Ian,
I have my tranny sender in the hot line. I used a pipe cutter and just spliced a compression fitting with a tee on in it but if I had to do it again I would spend the $84 and just buy the new line with the port. No matter how tight I get the tee, it will still seep some (not a lot just enough not to be perfect and that bothers me). Sucks to hear about your trouble.

OK, thanks for the support (Boo Hoo), and the links. I'll probably go with the line, and get a pan somewhere. I did call Piers (have dealt with them before), and they sell the Mag-Hytec, but not the line. I like the PML cover (a bit cheaper than the Mag).

The tranny line is part number 5011244AA, I paid 85.00 for mine. It is the best and will work on the 1994-2002 trucks. As for pans---you get what you pay for, the Mag-Hytec is a thing of beauty, and built like an army tank.

Look under your truck and follow the lines to the drivers side on the radiator. There should be some rubber parts in the line to make the corner or there was on the 01 I did the install on.

Wow. Your original post gave me the *******!.. I would not have been able to stand there and watch incompident idiots do work on my truck.
I would get it off the hoist and call a tow truck . Then back charge those bozos for the tow truck and anything they laid their hands on.

Loco shops and their jobs.
Sorry to hear about your experiences. If you were around when I have my MIG welder out I would do it for free. There are tooooo many shops that don't have a clue how to follow instructions or think for themselves.

I have done this to both my personal trucks and 3 friends trucks so far over the years and never had one leak.

if you go with a tee with flare fittings. then flare out your line.
your lines will not leak!

maybe there is enough metal left on your pan to use the hole for a drain plug. done by a competent welder of course. have aset of west tach guages the tranny temp pickup goes down the tranny dip stick hole into the fluid in pan. been working for 8 yrs. just a suggestion. don't know if they still make em.

First off welding that pan without baking the oil out of it first is a big issue, no matter how good you are that weld will have gas bubbles in it., Either torch the area for a while to bake off any oil or throw it in an old oven and bake it for a few hours.
Not as important with steel as it is with aluminum, but proper prep before welding makes all the difference in the world.
