Line-X over or under the rail?

Any advice you can give me as to whether I should choose over or under the rail for the LineX?

I am leaning towards under the rail, as I really like the paint on the truck but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Re:Line-X over or under the rail?

I went over the rail because:

1. those surfaces are vulnerable to stuff like garden tools and the like. esp the top of the rail and the tailgate. if you go down just a little bit over the side, it looks great and you can still rest things there as you load or unload. otherwise you can't so much as put a shovel in the back without worrying about the paint on the rail.

2. I put a shell canopy on, with the need to take it off from time to time. I didn't want my rail surfaces to deteriorate. And the shell door has a rubber sealing flap that comes down on to the tailgate that would rub the paint otherwise.

Re:Line-X over or under the rail?

I had the same dilemma. I loved my truck's Alantic Blue pearlcoat and really hesitated before finally taking the plunge for the Line-X over-the-rail. It was a good decision! It looks really good to me, plus now I don't have to worry about chipping or sratching the paint on top of the rails. Just my opinion...

I went under as I already had covers on the tops of the sides. If I had to do it again I would go over the rail. Would look better and I have actually had the suction from the 5th wheel pull one of the covers off the top of the bed rail.

Re:Line-X over or under the rail?

I'm with Shovelhead on this one. I went over the rail on mine and have not regretted it. It looks really good. The beds on the 4x4's are pretty high and I am always lifting stuff up and over the rails to put it in the bed. Makes it nice to not have to worry about scratching the top of the rail when it is coated.

Get it over the rails. I did mine when I first got my truck. I love it. It has saved my bed rails many times. Plus you don't have to spend the money on diamond plated rail caps, and worry bout scratching those up (if they're painted that is). Plus, you get a life time warranty on the bed liner, and if you ever take a chunk out of it, they'll fix it for free. I've got a bunch of chunks taken out of mine. Need to have them fixed.

Re:Line-X over or under the rail?

I bought my truck with under the rail already in it. Now i've got all kinds of scratches on the rails and tailgate. Definately go over the rail.

Re:Line-X over or under the rail?

I'll be the oddball here. I went under the rail then added rail caps. My reason for this was that I had seen several trucks that had over the rail that the line where the liner stoped looked terrible. The rest of the liner on these trucks looked great. I didn't want to take the risk.
