Lifter Pump

Lifter Pump
I am having the issue with the fuel gauge sending unit which I believe is in the fuel tank. My lifter pump is mounted on the side of the engine. I lost the VP44 once and I am trying to save this one. Its time to replace the lifter pump. I have heard the factory solution to the gauge problem relocates the lifter pump inside the fuel tank. Is this true? What are my options? I think I'd like to keep the lifter pump on the side of the engine(easier access).
Any suggestions?

Look at the Airtex
The Airtex goes in the stock location and looks like it could be a good fix. It's a better design. You may hear that the Airtex is a reboxed Carter and originally they were, but Airtex saw the carters failing and came up with a new design. Alot of people are waiting for the Vulcan performance to come out with the big line set up for the Aitex, since many on the board have moved their lift pumps to the frame with the bigline kit. Run a search on this board under Airtex, some people have the part number listed. Some people are getting them at Autozone and Carquest Auto Parts.

I think that is the intank model
Others feel free to chime in and correct me but i think you are talking about the intank version of Airtex pump. The block mounted Airtex does not have that same problem.
