What is this "lift pump harness trigger wire extension" used for? It looks too short to be extending anything anywhere. Is it to use a 3rd gen lift pump? If so why?

Its used when you put a 00-02 lift pump on a 98/99. The 98/99 LPs had about 6" of wire with the plug atached where on the newer ones the wire harness is longer and just plugs into the LP. So when I replaced my LP I had to use the jumper as my wire harness was to short to reach the pump. Hope this helps.
