lift pump advice?

I just installed a fuel pressure light on my mom's truck (stock 02 auto) and it needs a lift pump. It will always be stock as long as she owns it so there is no need for anything fancy. I think I will probably relocate the pump using Geno's kit. What pump do you guys recommend? A factory replacement? Holley? Aeromotive? Thanks, -Evan

If you have the $$ to spend, FASS is the way to go. I have been running a Holley ($140) by itself for 2 years now, no problems.

Walbro is as quiet as stock. Glacier Diesel sells them.
I am using an Aeromotive and it really sings.
Put it down on the frame in front of the tank.

I got the new version pump from O'Reilly. No problems so far. It's a completely new design over the OEM pump, but mounts to all the stock hoses and in stock location without any mods or extra parts. $150

i wish she would go with FASS, but wont spend the money. What are your opinions on the less expensive ones? For the ones that arent a direct bolt in, is wiring them pretty basic and straightforward?

what ever pump you go with, relocate it to the frame rail by the fuel tank. the new airtex e7153 is a great pump, will work with the vulan relocat kit

Yeah, the airtex is what I got from O'Reilly. I followed the directions to mount it in the stock loc. What are the advantages of frame rail mounting?

The frame mounting removes vibration and heat from the engine, and it allows to pump to push fuel, rather than pull it from the tank. Pumps like this are designed to push better than pull. Using a relocation kit like the one from Vulcan or Glacier Diesel gives you a longer wiring harness that is plug and play, larger line from the tank to the injection pump, which reduces restriction, and an array of fittings and bracketry to mount it. The AirDog system is on sale now, too. You may want to look into it.
