Lets talk intercoolers

I've been warming up the the idea of finally getting an intercooler. I'm not intersested in filling a bottle up with washer fluid all the time. I know everbody says that the ones in these trucks are fine but I would like to get some feedback on guys that have installed them. What are the real world results? What was your drop in egts, any quicker spool-up? The main reason I'm intersted in one is for lowering egts while towing. The Mach 4's dump in alot of fuel and the little 62 has a tough time keeping things cool in the mountains. I don't want to spend $1500 for a 50 deg drop and thats it. Maybe water/meth might be a better idea? Are BD(1380) and Spearco(1600) my only options? Trucks in sig. Thanks guys

Joe Hellman makes great coolers, Prob the best on the market. I'd call him and talk to him about making you an intercooler.

Also, don't forget about Banks Intercoolers, HTT,

Didn't notice much of a drop in EGT's when I installed mine (spearco), maybe 50 degrees tops. I think you would be a lot better off getting a nice set of towing twins; that will drop your EGT's dramatically...

I just added two more....I spent about 300 on the intercoolers, and 100 on steel then made a new bumper too. It all stemed from a tire blow out that killed the front bumper. Pics are in my gallery but they are years old.

Thats some neat stuff but I don't think its for a daily driver from Alberta. I would hate for the pump to break down on some hot summer day towing in the middle of now where.

There has been no benefits to an aftermarket intercooler except to say you have a Spearco or whoevers.

Take the cash and buy the 2/3 kit offered by Rip at Source Automotive. You will get MORE than you want.

If you can weld and have an extra car, you can put the 2/3 kit together by yourself for about a grand.

As far as the water/meth, I personally HATE IT! Its a pain in the butt! I will be pulling it off the truck and selling it. Its a Coolingmist kit with the dual pumps and progressive controller with a 6 gallon tank.
