Did your VA come with a boost fooler built in? Some of the old ones didn't have BF if I recall. Some places call it an anti defuel device too. Might try one of those if you don't have one.

Id say the smarty would be your best bet. I have driven a 24 valve with a Smarty. Talk about throttle response! You dont push the pedal ,and then wait for the truck to rev, as you have to do with any other box; you push the pedal, and let off before it hits redline You can definatley tell a stock 24v or a 24 valve with most other boxes has the fly by wire fuel pedal. With the smarty it is VERY responsive. No hesitation. Much more like a 12 valve. Pedal feels a lot more like a mechanical linkage. Do te smarty.

I did a box first then i did a catcher ! night and day differance then i did mach 1.6s and still have the stock turbo . you will not regret this combo. if you tow this is the set up ,it will pull the planet sideways and your face will never be the same!

You're only willing to spend $700, but want more power, but want to do it with a stock charger and don't want to watch the pyro gauge. At this point I say get a TST. Then you'll have more power and can turn the box down or up depending what you doing with the truck.

The Van Aaken V5 does have a boost fooler. I can hit 32 psi. I have
thought long and hard about a wire tapping box , but decided against
it. Right now I have one of the best towing combo's out (Van Aaken , RV275)
But as you have all found out, I wanted just a little bit more power in certain
situations I just don't want to stray too far away from the original
reason I bought my truck. Safe , reliable , long lasting tow vehicle.

Ah shucks, just come out and say it already. You want power to stomp on Chevys and Fords, but don't want to break the bank and get in trouble with the "accountant".

The cold facts are, you can't do it with $700. Wish it weren't true, but I don't see how you're going to get the power without adding sticks or a box and turbo.

camper, just get the mach 1.6's and be done with it. I think that will be perfect for your towing needs. I already have my va when my clutch gets bad I'll upgrade to a much stronger one , then the 1.6's I pull 9 to 10,000 pounds.
