Largest Dually Tire??
My son is looking into some new tires for his recently purchased 2002 4X4 Dodge dually w/Cummins.
We have been wondering what is the largest tire he could fit on the truck?
He would like to get one of the following..... http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyea...E&sidewall=OWL
http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgap...erraintakm.jsp
Or a: Bridgestone Dueler M/T with UNI-T
I am thinking a 315 would fit but am not sure who makes one in the right width and what would the max width be??
Thanks,
JJ

315's are way wide for the rear. 315 is the width in millimeters. If you divide it by 24.5, you get width in inches. So that'd be 12.9 inches wide. You'd have to run some kind of spacer. The 235/85 goodyear will work fine, that was the stock size on our 2002 3500. I've ran 265/75's and they rubbed a little, but I know people on here have run them without rubbing. I belive 265 is about as wide as you can go without the duals rubbing. Without using any kind of spacer or different rims, that is.

Here's the coversion equation: we'll use the 235/85R16s. Take the 235, divide it by 24.5 to get millimeters to inches. That gives you 9.6 inches. That's your width. multiply 9.6 by the aspect ratio (.85), that gives you 8.16. multiply that by 2. That's 16.3. Add the rim size (16) to 16.3, that gives you the tire heigth. 32.3. so the 235/85R16 should be around 9.6in wide, and 32.3 inches tall. Now, all manufacturer's tires are a little bit different, but you can get a good idea with this equation. It will work for any metric sized tire. About a 10.5 inch wide tire is as wide as you can go with stock 2002 rims on duals.
