HOHN: Thanks for the informed info. Where could I get 19.5 in wheels and can I get them to fit my Dodge? Are they "very heavy" cause they are made for heavier duty vehicles than my dodge 3/4 ton? Is it possible to get that 19.5 inch wheel in Alu or Magnesium to cut the weight and not be too expensive and heavy duty enough for me to carry 2500 lbs load? Mglass1045 suggested 19.5 inch Rickson Alu rim but also said they are $500 each. Doubt that I'd make up any savings by spending that much. I've looked into the Overdrive unit but that costs at least $3000

You can get a lighter weight wheel, but the TIRES are the heavy part-- 60# and up in some cases.

Yes, they are overkill for a 2500 pickup.

Try to find a regular LT tire for pickups in a larger size with mild tread. Say, a 315/75r15 with hwy or all-terrain tread. Cooper has some good options, but they're only D rated.

To get an E-rated 315, it seems you have to go to an aggressive tread- like the Toyo M/T.

I just bough a set of Vision Type 81 19.5" wheels...but I'm putting on a set of Yokohama TY303 285/70R19.5 tires, which are almost 35" tall

If I didn't care as much about looks, as much as function, I would have got 245/70R19.5's, which are only 33" (I think, can't remember) They would also be narrower, and light to help fuel mileage. The 285's are 95lb, plus the wheel @ 45lb, for 140lbs EACH!!! Versus what, maybe 70-80lb for stockers?? They are heavy!!

No pics yet...they won't fit until my leveling coils get here

Checked with Rickson Truck Wheels (They specialize in 19.5 inch wheels). Looks like the cost would be quite high, approx $800 for wheel and tire (alu wheel and 245 70R 19.5) this would get me to the desired diameter of 33.5 but the cost and additional weight (115 lbs for each wheel/tire vs approx 80 with my stock setup) make this not very attractive. However I would get maybe twice the wear because they are commercial tires. I discussed ride with the rep and she said it would be about the same as stock. I think I'll check with Big O and see if I can get a 19 or 20 inch wheel and tire that will do what I want.
