Kenny's pulling parts DD
I was wanting to know if anyone had any expericne with the dual disc pulling clutch from Kenny's pulling parts in Kentucky. I think some one told me it has a 3850 plate load but not for sure. How would a plate loade that big in a Daul Disc clutch do as a daily driver? A friend of mine has one but his truck only has 50 miles on since was installed so we do not know how this clutch will do. Any info on this clutch would nice because this is the clutch i am thinking about running in my truck.
Thanks for all the help Patrick.

I have seen good and bad with Kenny's clutches. My buddy had one and it would even begin to hold a stock turbo'd 24 valve. he even had kenny himself rebuild it, and it still was no better. So needless to say, he has a southbend now with no problems. 2 of my buddies are running his single disc with more power than the 24 valve had and they hold the power better than the dual disc did. Honestly if I had a 5 speed, id probably go with a south bend just because of the dual discs of his i have seen that wouldnt hold for people I know... I have nothing against smaller companies, and if i had a 5 speed id love it if the guy that built my clutch only lived 30 min's away, but from what i have seen with his clutches it is hit and miss, and I would have a hard time trusting one.

I daily drive a Southbend with 4200 lbs of plate load. You'll notice the extra pedal effort, and it's grabbier than stock, but not unbearable. Leave the line with a little more rpm, and you're fine. The only time you won't like it is when trying to back a trailer up slowly, and even then, you can drive around it.
My '96 had a DD from Kenny in it when I bought it. The truck only had around 325 hp at the time, but the clutch held it with no problems. It was a lighter pedal than my Iron Giant for sure, but it was also the 'street' model instead of the all-out puller...

I had a SBC 3850 for a short time and pedle effort was nothing to be concerned about. its my daily driver and I dont pull so it was suggested when I went with a spring loaded DD to get a 3600# because the 3850 and up really cause wear on parts. not sure what parts or what kind of excess wear but I went with a 3600 anyway.

I'm sure all the twin disk builders had problems early. Did Southbend build a perfect clutch straight out of the box? Anyway, Kenny's a nice guy to talk to, his prices are good, and he is able to build a triple disk that can be driven everyday (not recommended by others though).

Yes, it is. Do you happen to have Mitch's email address? I think my kydtr account got shut down due to inactivity last year when I didn't have time to get on the boards much. I wanted to check back in with him, though.
