Just tested out the Smarty VP44 Beta
Well just got back from a test run with the new Smarty Beta for the VP44 trucks. Well there definetly is no speed limiter. Ran it past an dash indicated 120 (aka buried) and a GPS indicated 134. Runs real strong all the way past redline. Probably need to get some decent springs now. But it pushed past 3400 rpms indicated on the dash, with no end in fueling. I wasn't comfortable pushing it much past that RPM or speed and will let others run it harder and farther past the envelope then I did. But I would like to know what changes were made and if the things I experienced seem to line up with what changes that were made.

I didnt get a chance to run it back to back with the TST on and off last night. But I did this morning. The good news is it feels as though its picked up some HP over the old programming and has no problem making 32 PSI of boost EGTs still in check and runs real smooth. Bad news (if you can call it that) is with the TST on it runs much harder. You can diffinetly feel the difference in power up high bewtween them, but it runs even stronger with the TST/Smarty stack. Didnt break any landspeed records on the stack as I'm way overfueled and EGTs were pegged, I let off at a dash indicated 120, as I didn't have access to GPS on my morning drive into work.
As far as getting it. Simply email Bob and he'll set you up. I'm anxiously awaiting what changes were made. As it seems like it runs harder and they may have found some HP left in the tuning. Also I ran the truck up to and past 3400 rpms (dash indicated) this morning although it was in 3rd gear. Seemed to be pulling hard just not as hard with the TST on.

cspotrun: For us high altitude guys it would be very interesting to build twins with the HY and a clever wastegate. Maybe an SPS66 or something like that as a primary. Or maybe even an HX35/40 hybrid as a primary, should get you the nice HY spool and since you keep both compressors in the fat part of their respective maps it should suffice for something like 400hp with decent EGTs and decent backpressure.
