Just got a South Bend

I just got my South Bend MU-13-1.25 Con FE 13" conversion with a roler pilot. Every thing about this kit is big. The disk has springs 2x-3x bigger than stock. I will let every one know how it works in a day or two. I have helped install other SB's but not the big one like this one. Its good for 550hp and 1100tq. I know one gy that has one and he said the peddle is lighter than stock. What do you guys think? The pressure plate has 3 straps in each spot and the stock has only 1. I Realy like the roller, I had one put in for a friend that was running a Clark 280VO with a 1 1/2" input.

The pedal pressure in mine with the FE is the same maybe a touch lighter than stock. It took me awhile to get used to it as it is very grabby. Backing up is the worst, all in all I am very happy with the clutch.

I just got done with my 3250 sprung hub dual disc, and I love it.
SBC is a top notch company to deal with.

Oh yeah, when I got my clutch I weighed it still in the box and the whole assembly was 103 pounds!!!!!!!!!

According to the boxes mine weighed 100 lbs even. This one can't be anymore grabby than the full ceremic six-puck dual spring Sacks clutch I had in my 92. When I got home and saw the big boxes waiting I was happier than a kid at Christmas. I never got anything that cool from Santa.

My 3250 just got broke in at 2000 miles & it is not grabby at all compared to my old Luk cerametallic. It has the same pedal pressure as my brothers stock 98.5 truck. The chattering is quiet compared to other DD....Southbend is #1.

Just got my MU13-1.375 CON FE & Flywheel in and it is better than stock. I'm taking it very easy for the first 500 miles. I had an CON OFE before and the pedal was way stiffer. Got everything through PDR in B.C. Thanks Mark. The only thing I forgot was to remove the starter spacer, she wouldn't start!!

I am realy looking forward to this thing. Just have to make my self take it easy for a bit. I thought about the 1.375 but I was doing good to get this one much less a new input. I get it at my dealer price and its still not cheep. Why is it that the guys that fix and build realy cool and mean trucks for every body else usualy have the saddest trucks. I guess its becous it don't pay to work on your oun stuff.

I just put mine in last weekend and haven't got to drive it much but it slipped easy at first but then after a few miles was way better. The only thing now is that its hard to shift but i'm hoping that will get better

You may want to check the motor mounts. I had a bad one in my 92 and it was fine going forward but would jump so hard that i thought it might come off the ground. Put a new one in and it fix almost all of it. I hope its not to bad becous I pull a trailer a lot and have to be able to back right up to houses.

I just got it in and it is great. The press is less than stock and it is not grabby at all. I also put in a fresh rebuilt trans and it all works great. I want to get 200miles or so on it like they say to so I can realy see what it will do. I just wish that the oil was not $20 a quart. Me and a lot of other guys I know have tryed other oils that clame to meet all the specks and thay do not shift well. I will let ya'll know how it goes.

Well I put 160+ miles on the new clutch and trans today. The thing that had me unsure was that the first 20 I had to pull our 26ft inclosed gooseneck to town to the boss so he could pull it for work. I followed and its a good thing. I pushed the clutch at about 50mi and it went to the floor. I blew the slave on the clutch and thought I got Dot 3 all over the new clutch . The ruber boot kept it dry. I went and got a new one and had it pulled and replaced in under 45min total ( parts store was only a few blocks away and my bos gave me a ride). I will post the best way to bleed these things sinse there is no bleed screw. I have done it enough that when I get done I dont even have to pump the peddle It worked the first time I pushed it. Other than that every thing worked fine and I love it.

Here is what happend. Other than that I love my new setup. This is not becous of to much peddle pressure it was becous when I had it out all of the Dot 3 drained down into the slave and I was not thinking and pushed the clutch. With the slave already maxed out it blew out the snap ring but becous it was still looked ok so I ran it and it lasted 50miles. It had 289K on it.

yea, thats why they come with those white ties on the slave rod when u get a new one to hold it in. It took me awhile to figure out why it would matter, but thats the exact reason ^.

I know but this was the old one. I knew better than that but I was not thinkin. I am going to wright a post on the best way to bleed the system With little or now pumping. I have got realy good at it. This last time I did it it 10min max and did not have to pump the peddle even once.
