Thumbs up To John P & Banshee

I just wanted to say thanks for all the usefull info you guys put out regarding the Holley Red Fuel System upgrade!!! I installed mine yesterday and increased my fuel pressure from 10 psi to 17 psi at idle and can't get below 13 at WOT. My midnight trips to New Hampshire will be made with peace of mind. Thanks again!

Hey Mkelly,

I'm glad the pump is working out good for you! Dad loves it on his, and his pressures haven't wavered a bit in about 5 months now. It may not be a FASS or this new "Ultimate lift pump", but I haven't heard of a single failure yet!

I also have the "Porterfield" setup on my truck using the Holley Blue pump. At idle I see 21.5-24, I guess it depends on the temperature, but wide open throttle I can't get it lower then 12-13 psi. It makes me feel a little easier when doing modifications, I won't be starving my injector pump of fuel. Now to bomb the tranny.......

Are you guys mounting them near the tank or in the stock location?

I used John P and Banshee's idea, L bracket at cross member, 8" in front of tank
and ran -6 an aeroquip from the tank to the Holley Red and then to the lift pump.

Banshee.....do you use the safety shut-off switch (p/n 12-810)and the fuel pump relay (p/n 12-753)? I have some EDM2's and a Dodgezilla staring at me in the garage for the past few days but I refuse to slap them on until I get this fuel system upgraded. With all the options out there I've finally decided to try your set-up since I should be able to get everything locally/quick.

J Double,

I wire the pumps off a relay, but I just pick up a standard 5 post 30 Amp relay just like is used in the fuse panel in your truck (the balck square relays). We bought the last relay from Advanced auto, but I have used different ones before (Painless, PE, Chrysler, etc.) I put an inline fuse in the power wire from the battery to the relay to protect the relay & wiring in the case of a short (never had a problem w/ the holley, but I had a PE pump that would blow 25A fuses!). If your lift pump is providing good pressure at idle (above 12 psi) then I would put a Red pump behind it to keep your max pressures down. If you change all the lines out to -6 with the elbows and weber carb adapters you'll see about a 3 psi jump on top of what the pump will give you. Hope this helps.

Thanks Banshee, I just picked up a Blue pump so I'm going to just bypass the stock LP and use bigger lines.

J Double,

No problem. With your comp and EDMs you're probably going to pull your pressure a little below 10psi. It's good to go as long as you're about 5, but if you want more pressure just run it through your stock LP.
