TST's is less expensive than the BD one. Google TST and find their website, you'll find their j-hook (do a search on their site for j-hook).

I had the turnbuckle, it would spin up quickly over 30psi. My gauge is only a 30psi so I didn't like not knowing. I purchased TST's J-hook. Boost stops dead at 29.4psi now (I have Dakota Digital gauges).

I've got a Van Aaken and DD1s so she spools up real quick on this little ol' HY.

In my opinion, without a box or injectors, waste of time. With a mild box or injectors (ie...a bit more fuel), yes it is worth it. The engine just comes to life at 25lb of boost.

I have the turnbuckle on mine, and i don't have any problems with egt's or my turbo going out of it's effeciency range. I also turnbuckled my hy 35, it prolly wasn't such a good idea on it, it would start wining at about 38 lbs of boost...... but nothing bad ever happened, i just outgrew it.

Waste gate J hook ?

So do i understand this 'J' hook can go onto a stock 2001 2500 diesel w/o any other issues ,no other mods required? And it holds boost back and keeps the egts lower?

i have a question....i keep hearing that the hy turbo came on the auto's and that a boost elbow cannot be used on them. i am 99% sure i can use a boost elbow on mine as the turbo is tapped with a rubber hose running to the wastegate. soooo... will the boost elbow really work on mine since the hose is there or will i have to get a j hook?

The j hook is for the 01 and up autos. A boost elbow will work on yours.
Yes you can run the j-hook on a stock truck with no other mods if you wanted to.

Ok, I have an amature question....Why go through all that jazz with the turn buckel, or Jhook as you call it... If your goal is to lock out the waste gate, then why not just unhook the line coming from the turbo and plug the hole with an 1/8" NPT fitting? Same result, just less crap to buy and install. I did it on my truck to see if the waste gate was the cause of an issue I was having. Also, when you get over 35psi, the turbo is counter productive. Just wondering.

Thanks.

on the 01+ auto trucks the wastegate has a metal line going into the compressor,no rubber hose at all.i guess you could crimp the tube with plier's for more boost

I thought that the stock wastegate let go at 26psi? I thought I remembered HOHN saying that in another thread.

And that first picture isn't the J-Hook actually... thats a home brew. The very last picture is it. But they all do the same thing more or less...

Ordered my J-hook from TST a couple days ago after seeing this post. What showed up was bare steel (which will rust in about 30 seconds around here) and absolutely no directions whatsoever. Granted, it is not that complicated to figure out (I hope) but not even a hint about directions, and no finish at all on the steel. I was a little disappointed.

That seems odd, as all of the TST pictures seem to indicate that this product is either made of aluminum or has a non-steel finish. I would be a bit ****** if I purchased any product that did not include instructions.

Any boost enhancement will not work on a stock truck. It will throw an over boost code. You have to have a box with a boost fooler for the ECM.

Or, make a manual boost fooler using a pneumatic regulator (I made one).

I bought my J hook at Lowe's, $3.00
