Cool It's In!!!!!

After having a Goerend tranny sitting in my garage for almost a month it finally got installed yesterday. Many Many thanks to Crimedog for the use of his "shed" and the help with labor. We got started about 1pm and got done about 11pm. We only had a "slight" problem with one fitting thanks to "Mr Muscles" (right Matt??) but the rest didn't go too bad. Anyhow all I can say is HOLY MACKERAL!!!!!!!! I never thought my truck had that much performance!!! Even Crimedog was impressed!!!! My wife said the truck "felt" more steady going down the road. She has not even driven my truck and she could tell the differance. I cannot get the grin to go away even after driving it about 175 miles to get home. On another note, I fueled up on the way home and broke 20mpg for the first time EVER! I did dump a bottle of "Diesel Kleen" in the tank before I went to put the tranny in so I don't know what the reason for the increase in mileage is. All I know is I like it.

I'm sure the tranny is helping.

Actually getting the power to the ground instead of turning it into heat in the torque converter.

I'm sure mileage will go up a little more after the novelty of
"pushing the skinny pedal and the truck actually moving" wears off.

Come on, Tom, it had to be some weak brass, right? But then again, I do feel a bit stronger than I used to

A little not to all who buy a GB transmission, the fittings that come in the tranny have a tag on them that say don't remove. They are right Tom's truck had weird fittings on the tranny lines that required us to take the tranny fittings out, but MAKE SURE YOU HEAT THEM UP WITH A PROPANE TORCH FIRST! Otherwise you might excede the yield point in the fitting (I learned big words today )

That tranny is just plain and simply awesome. It shifts like nobody's business and holds all the power with ease. Holy smokes what a difference!

Tom, you know the improved milage was probably the mystery fluid in there BTW, my dad brought up the tranny 3 or 4 times today, he even asked how much it costs I've got to save up a thousand bucks and spring a deal on him...

MnTom,

Welcome to the "other trans" family. I'm quite sure you'll be as happy with yours as I am with mine.
When I got my trans, the fitting toward the back of the trans had a tag on it that said "Don't overtighten". I removed it anyhow because I still had the old style trans lines with the plastic quick disconnects, and the trans came set up for the new style lines. I learned my lesson the hard way, the hot side blew the plastic fitting on my test drive, dumped about 3-4 quarts at the top of my driveway (as well as all the way down the street). I ordered the updated lines from Dave the following Monday.

Just got my 370's in over the weekend. Waiting on my turbo to show up so I can run it without the valet switch on. Then we'll see this tranny shine

Congrads Tom,,,,,,,,,
I know how ya feel. The only comment my wife said after she drove it about 200 miles on the following weekend after the install,,,, was "It does shift better,,,, but I think it uses more fuel now." She was basing that on when she has made the same trips before,,,,,, but I had to remind her that I noticed how she sure stood on the loud pedal when she pulled out onto the highway that day ,,,,, ,,,,,, and she doesn't seem to drive it like a little old lady anymore!

Hmmm,,,,,,,,,,,, where have I heard that before?,,,,,,,,,,, Oh yeah....... I been saying the same thing since the 1st of the month!

Doodah, I had the tranny shipped to me. I picked it up in Duluth and turned around and hauled it half way back to install it!! If I did come down there I would have gotten ahold of you to "show me the sites" .
Rattlinram, I have no idea as to what kind of timeframe we are loking at. I am still trying to get used to the feeling!!

Hey doodah, Sometime this summer I plan on heading down there and picking one up from Dave. Maybe we can do the KDP on your new truck???

TOM! What the heck?! You gotta update your sig, show that thing off a bit! If you aren't going to treat it with respect, maybe I should just take the tranny from you? or at least the guts

Congrats MnTom,

You can pull your double much better now. I'm still stock but just putting in new tranny fluid helped my truck.

Welcome to the plus20 mileage club.

I now need to adjust the star wheel. I never had much smoke before when taking off. Noe I can smoke things up pretty well. Only problem is.........................dang plug won't come out so I can't even get to the star wheel.

What the heck Tom? You were in the cities and nobody told me? Matt, your typing fingers were broken too? Shame on both of you.

I'm just a mechanic though, I probably couldn't have helped you at all.

Just Kidding, I guess we should have called you, huh?
