Isspro pyro Install...probe. 1/4 pipe or?

I dont like the 1/4" pipe prob fitting on my Isspro pyro. Seems too big of a hole to drill in the manifold. Is this a bigger prop than other guages? The thing is giant!

Any isspro pyro install tips or fitting adaptations??

Did a search and found diesel manor has a install sheet for the Isspro , but my computer freezes up when I try and veiw their install pages.

Any help?

Rick

1/2" is huge....thats the problem there are many different monting scenarios. I think most of them are 1/4"

Escuse me , its a 1/4" pipe , I have that tap already. I changed my first post. Though a 1/4" pipe is almost 1/2" hole.

Are other guages 1/8 " pipe ?

1/4" seems pretty big...

If all else fails, you could get another probe that uses a 1/4" pipe. They are not too expensive. By the time you use adapters to go down from 1/2" to 1/4", the probe probably would not be in the manifold deep enough.

Not a big deal....just get a 1/2"X1/4" 3000# bushing and use some nickle antiseize. Maybe you could send the pyro back and get the corect one.

Im not completely sure, but I think all pyro and tranny temp guages have the electronic boxes. The pyrometers need the amplifier boxes because the pyrometer is dealing with such small millivoltages. No big deal either, just install it correctly and it will be fine. Isspros are excellent guages and theyve been making guages for diesels for 50 or 60 years.

Ok this prob has a brass 1/4-18 fitting . Is that the standard or are others 1/8 npt?

I have some copper anti sieze, is nickle anti sieze a better way to go on a cast iron exhaust manifold ?

Actuually, I think youll be fine with the copper stuff if thats what you have. I think the 1/4 probe is standard but I could be wrong.

I believe you can buy a differant 1/8 npt probe. I thought i have seen them on genos. Check the probe that comes with this guage. Maybe genos could sell one separate.

I've had my 1/4" pipe hole drilled in my manifold for almost 5 years and I've never once had a problem with it. I say quit worrying and drill that sucker.

Isspro sells 1/8" fittings for their pyro probes. I don't know why the 1/4" comes standard except possibly because they include a 1/4" weld-on bung in the kit. The 1/4" bung is about the minimum size for welding to a pipe or turbo elbow.

I too, thought the 1/4" looked huge for drilling and tapping the manifold. I purchased a brass compression to 1/8" NPT coupling at local store and bored out the hole so the probe slid through. Local diesel shop prefers stainless steel couplings.
