Irractic fueling with washer mod (P7100) ??

Hey guys,

I am trying to figure out if the washer spring mod to the P7100 governor springs could cause a rough running condition. My engine has a range were it just does not seem to pull smoothly. I dont have a tach, but it is close to the 2000RPM mark. It does not pull real hard and just seems to be a little rough.

I also noticed to today when reving at full throttle running down the road on up past 2500RPM it seems to have a bit of fuel surge or something. I was getting brown haze with periodic puffs of black smoke....weird, huh?

I am thinking that shimming the governor springs just keeps things from fueling smoothly. Anyone had this issue?

FWIW, I had to go two clicks in to get the engine to idle. It wanted to stay around 1500RPM or so with no load. In gear it would idle, but in park it would rev up on it's own.

Been running this way for a while, but I have decided something is not quite right.

Thanks,

Chris

It sounds like maybe... you might have one or both springs to tight. are you 100% sure you got them set right?

Can you define "set right"? I just did the washer mod as described. I had to tighten the nuts two clicks past stock to get the engine to idle. I was basically just tinkering to see what happened. I tryed in and out on the retainers and in helped while out made it so it would not idle at all....just run right up when cranked.

I do know that the washers are free and no hanging on the outer spring.
