How do you install a TC lock up switch?

Here is a diagram for you, this one hooks into the brake as a secondary disconnect so just incase you forget to turn your switch off coming to a stop it won't damage anything internally!

There is tons of reading on this, just enter "mystery switch" in the search box and read away!!!!

Look in my gallery, I have a couple of different ways to do it. Including the one from the above post.

Well I have a '99 so my truck is different than that fuse box diagram. I located my trans relay in the fuse box. and the computer cable on the firewall inback of the air cleaner.

The rest of the stuff on the diagrams with the 3 way brake unlock I havent got a clue what those scematics translate too in locateing where to wire too. TCR, BR, AUR what do these represent.

The fuse box trans relay ... you pull out the relay stick a jumper wire in and shove the relay back in? Hmmm ?? looks fishy to me.

Im going to have to find some better instructions than that. I will figure it out, but I need to no where the TCR,BR,AUR are located

I haven't done mine yet so I am not completely positive, but the relays are in the black box under your hood by the battery. Let me see if I can find this certain thread that I was reading yesterday, it was pretty self explanitory

Ok I found the TCR relay in the black fuse box on the driverside by the batttery, I see on the side of the TCR relay printed a little sceematic with the posts id as 87,87a,86,85,30.

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ctions_001.jpg

Now where is the brake relay BR, and the Auto unlock relay AUR, located? They arent in my '99 fuse box or identified on the fuse box lid.

How are you guys wireing into these relay? just craming a wire in there and craming the relay back in the slots over the wire?

Thanks for the help! Rick

GSP,

The schematic that you are refering to is something that you build by buying three relays, it is not part of your truck right now.

Yes you do pull that relay in the fuse box on your truck and replace it with a jumper-do NOT reintall it over the jumper.

Ahhh....You Da Man McMopar. Thanks for simple help!

I will use this then https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ctions-med.jpg

Im not a electrical engineer so what is exactly a "relay" ? And why make it so complicated ? Why not just wire the switch into the brake light switch?

The diagram that you have in the last post is VERY easy to do, I have done it in all of my trucks along with my dad's and some friends, but it has one drawback---If you have it locked and try to stop you will stall the truck and it will buck like he**. You have to remember to turn it off. The three realy setup automatically unlocks the first time you hit the brakes. The setup I designed offers the user three options, run the truck stock, locked up, and unlocked.

I understand that Mcmopar, thanks though. Id like to hook in the brake switch to unlock once I figure it out.

Later though,
Right now im doing a shift kit on my truck,

I have a SMR shift kit and also a Trango kit instructions here that im studying and compareing

Transgo has beter illistrations, Basicaly they are doing the same things to the vp. I noticed SMR tells you to drill some maximum size holes in the plate, which will make harder shifts. Trango warns you to be careful ,might be to hard of a shift for the customer. But... Pat told me to use my stock pressure regulator screw spring. Maybe the pressure springs and adjustment between the 2 kits are different too. Transgo has a couple more things they do that Im checking.
