Installed boost fooler now egine runs like a dog with check egine light! Help!!!

Ok, I installed a BD Boost Fooler and Elbow and when I went to take her for a spin my check engine light was on and she ran like a dog. I then brought her home and took off everything - PowerPuck, Boost Fooler and Elbow and took her out. Seemed to run fine, but check engine light was still on. Went out a little while ago and started her up and no check engine light, so I thought I hook up the Boost Fooler and see. Sure enough the check engine light was back on. What am I doing wrong?

Well I called US Diesel Parts which is what I should have done first, but I panicked. They couldn't figure it out so they had me call BD. BD told me it sounded like the fooler was wired wrong so they told me to tell US Diesel to send me a new one. Called back US Diesel and talked to a different guy and he said that they have had a few come back like mine and that they would send me out anouther. Both US Diesel and BD were great to work with, no complaints. I just hope this one that comes works properly. I have to admit I was a little worried about my truck.

Oh and hello to all. This is only my 4th post, but I will probably be here more often now that I am fooling around with this beast.

glad you got it figured out. If you get all that madness, then the bost fooler isn't fooling anything.

I have just figured out recently that my boost fooler from diesel dynamics was giving me a dead pedal. Unhook it and it runs fine, hook it back up and i can get a dead pedal in less than 100 yards!

Spoke too soon. When I installed it and started the engine up I had no "Check engine light" so I left it at that. Well when I went into town today I drove down my driveway to the gate everything still looked OK. Got out to open the gate got back in and the darn Check engine light was back on. Decided to go ahead and drive it and it seemed fine. I got the boost up to 27 and it seemed to doing fine. Hit it at 55 to 65 and got the boost back up to 27 and still seemed fine.

What will the truck feel like when it defuels? Is this check engine light something that comed along with this fooler? I am assuming it is the fooler at this point. I haven't disconnected it yet. I will call US Diesel in the morning, but if you guys have any answers between now and then I'd appreciate it.

Just to make sure I hooked it up to the MAP sensor that I saw on a diagram here. I believe it was #8 on the diagram. Just want to make sure I have the thing in the right spot.

It's a 98. I went out his morning unplug it and plugged it back in and now no Check engine light. I'm gonna drive it into town in a bit and see what it does. I'll keep you posted.

Well took it for a pretty good drive and floored it a couple of times and no check engine light and it runs fine. Quess it was just a fluke. I was about ready to toss the fooler and forget it.

I just made my own boost fooler this last week and it made the check engine light come on, but it was because i had the voltages/ resistance wrong...if these engines read a boost level that is too high it will throw an overboost fault code and throw the engine into defuel mode...causing the check engine light to come on...
