Installed 4GSK...

Well I installed a Piers 4GSK tonight to replace my washer 3.6GSK. On initial startup it idles smoother (and at 800rpms with A/C on), and bogs less when letting the clutch out. Was a little easier to control the pedal position and less touchy than before but when free-reving it in nuetral once you get up to 2kRPM's or so it will shoot up to 4k+ until you throw it in high gear and bog it back down. Also when going down the road it is SLOWER from 1200rpm's to redline than before, but with higher EGT's and less boost. It also had a slight hesitation to return to idle from 2k+. I think that it is overfueling the turbo too much and choking it out, my plate is ground very deep so with it set at FB it is about what a normal plate is at when at 3/4 FF. When I got into it you could feel it kick into "go-mode" but would only rev slowly while EGT's would start a quick climb, much like it was bogging because of so much excess fuel. My EGT's went from 1550*-1600* at 3500RPM to 1600* at 3100RPM and boost dropped to 35psi at WOT when before it was at 38psi. My washer GSK would only free-rev to 3600RPM's and this one will go to 4K easily, so I am basing my assumption on the overfueling mostly on this, as it was at night when I drove it so viewing smoke wasn't possible.

I think I need to A) Put in a less hardcore plate. B) Loosen the hold-down nuts on the spring retainers 1-2 clicks and use the throttle stop adjustment to raise my idle back up. C) Put my twins on or get that S400 hybrid I have been eyeing, but I think my HG wouldn't last a minute with either as it already leaks profusly.

What do you guys think of my plan, any suggestions are welcomed!

I have a 4k GSK in my 95, Just back it off a click or two and you should be ready to run, mine runs nice and smooth and idles at about 700.

Sounds like the right idea to me

or back off your fuel plate too... My 4K only revs to a bout 3600 then starts to pop alot.. i loosened it a click then it went up to 3800 rpms or so... two clicks and it dropped my idle to 300 rpms.. its a fine line...
