Inspection Problems
ok so i went in this morning to get a newc inspection sticker since the one i had was only 6 months out of date and the inspection man said that my BHAF and 4" straight exhaust wouldnt pass. He said that the air filter was one specified for my truck therefore it wouldnt pass then proceeds to tell me that the exhaust wouldnt pass. Does the turbo not count..ooooo i was censored. can anyone tell me anything on the filter or the exhaust

the air filter is PURE bs... a vehicle doesn't even have to have an air filter on it! LOL!
if you look at the TX vehicle inspection criteria a turbo IS considered a muffler ON A DIESEL.
I'd find another inspection station, but if you put one of Rip's sneaker 4" mufflers on it, you'll likely never have anymore problems in that area. (it's just a 4" muffler w/ no perforations on the center pipe... straight pipe that looks like a muffler)

I don't think he's got them listed on the site anymore, you'll have to call him.

i have no problems with my inspections. like stated before the turbo charger is considered a muffling device and the air filter is bs. i have a BHAF and it passes. i get mine done in liberty, tx. i would find a different station also.

Youre at the mercy of whoever you bring it to, really. They dont know the law in a lot of these places. I had one shop look at my truck and the guy said 'thats lifted I cant pass it' and the truck only has 3" in the front. I quoted him the law up here in regards to wheelbase and height and he just shrugged. I just told him 'Its your shop, you make the decisions.. my decision is to take my business elsewhere'.
Im sure Ill get flak for my larger exhaust and other mods now too, but Ill just take it to different places until I find someone with some common sense. If theres nothing wrong with the lights and safety gear, there should be no issue.
I think we even have to have inspection stickers on aux fuel tanks in the bed too. Geez.. more BS regulation and bureaucracy. Never ends.

Exactly! The inspector goes through what is supposed to be a very extensive training and testing period to be able to do inspections. If he is using his inspector hammer to get you to purchase something from him - he needs to feel the pain.
