Sherrif you are correct, the basic exemption is if that vehicle is ran 1000 miles per year or less. Depending on the year you will have different timelines to comply.

I'm sure hoping that doesn't apply to the typical pick-up truck owner, yet. I hope that they give you a big tax break for buying a new truck with all that emmission junk on it. It seems that California gets to start the ball rolling and the rest of north america follows along some what. At the end of the day, it gonna hurt the little guys the most, the guys with the shallow pockets, that can't afford to buy a new truck for business and but need a truck to work.

Yea it sucks, but the saying is true..."as california goes, so goes the nation..."

point in case...California...on the brink of financial colapse...so goes the nation...California requires retro smog regulations...so goes the nation...California requires new vehicle smog regulations ...so goes the nation.

I am in the same boat...moved here with the family...want to move away....work keeps me here...

now I read that my home state, Washington...is doing smog checks on diesel as well.....WHERE DO I GO!!!!!!!!

If that were true, then how come Nevada, Washington, New York, Maine, even Texas, and at least 10 other states already enforce some sort of diesel smog check right now, but in CA we don't have any (not even a visual).

Its a saying, not a literal meaning...

its the "idea"

late 80's guy hits up a middle school in stockton with a simi automatic assault rifle....Ca bans assult rifles...soon after the nation does as well...California stand alone is the worlds 8th largest economy..was the 5th...for the last 6 years our economic GDP has slid, slid, slid, fallen off the map (funny we are still even the 8th largest)...Nation's GDP has also fallen consistantly with it...

its just the idea...kinda like..."i could shave my dogs A$$ and teach it to walk backwards, but that wouldnt help you out.." saying...but nobody ever shaves there dog and teaches it to walk backwards

I fully understand that other states have implemented standards previous to this..but...

ever wonder why the majority of preformance parts are stated as 49 state legal...or why..individual states have done emmisions tests previous to this and now that CA is doing it...it becomes a FEDERAL EPA STANDARD (potientially)...ever wonder why, dodge did a 325/610 that wasnt legal to be sold new (unless you knew someone) untill 06....

just saying......CALIFORNIA SUCKS... and when things happen in CALIFORNIA it usually brings the rest of the nation DOWN WITH IT...but hey Im over it....lol..lol

My understanding of the new law is that it affects vehicles less then 8800 GVW and commercial vehicles greater than 14,000 GVW.

thats because calif if the prison state

over 200,000 inmates

feds pay almost $50k/yr (per)

yes, that is $10,000,000,000.00 our state gets from the feds for its marvelous prison system

that system generates more income than any micro chip comin outta silicon valley or any ag from anywheres else here

joke
