Unhappy injector pump? please help

my dad's truck is an '02 5 spd, stock other than Carter lift pump, 4" straight pipe, and bd low fuel pressure light

it has no power on take off and white smokes excessively, but once driven for 8-10 minutes it has good power and white smoke clears up, also the low fuel pressure light has not come on yet

many thanks again

Since its an 02 you can use the key trick: without starting the truck turn the ignition on then off then on then off then on- then watch for codes to come up on the odometer.

0216: injection pump timing error.
P0234: i think this is overboost code
P1693: just a code telling you there are other codes.

That 0216 is frequently present when your VP44 dies. Not always, though. Other things occasionally cause the 0216 code, but it's associated with a bad injection pump.

Yes 0234 is overboost. Disconnect your negative lines from the batteries and turn the key to the on position for a half hour or so to clear the codes. Watch to see if the codes come back and start saving for an IP
