Injector Experts

I've heard from some people that the RV275 injectors that I currently have installed , don't have the correct spray pattern for our engines. Others say the spray pattern is correct. Mine have been working great for 4+ years, I would
just like to know for certain from anyone that has actually researched this.

Yep, we have!!

The box stock 275 Bosch injector does not have the correct spray pattern for our engines. There are enough differences that they don't match our stock units.

The "optimized" sets do have a corrected spray pattern and are basically aftermarket injectors EDMd to the correct stock pattern.

But, even with the incorrect pattern, they still work fine. You won't see much of a difference until you add a fueling box to the mix.

Many companies actually start with a stock RV275 nozzle and hone them out to final size. This results in more smoke and lower economy. This is why we pay attention to spray angles and such.

Dave
Does that pertain to both the SO and HO piston?

So the Stock 275 hp RV engine has pistons with a different bowl than ours ?

Anyone here run RV275 injectors and then pulled the head off ? I would
love to see a picture of the RV275 spray pattern in the piston bowl as
compared to a stock set of injectors. Just to see how much difference there is.

The 275hp pistons have a much wider bowl than what the our engines have. They look very similar to the 3rd gen pistons.

So that means the RV275 injectors would have a wider spray pattern to match the larger piston bowl of the 275 hp RV engines. Will this cause these injectors
to spray partially outside of the piston bowl on our engines ? Again, do any of
the aftermarket injector manufacturers have data or pictures to prove or
disprove this ?
