Injector Differences
I am new to this injector business :-[. Unfortunatly I have the bombing bug as my Jeep is not enough to fuel my cravings these says. I am wanting to ad 275RVs, DDIs, DDIIs or similar and a box such as the edge (I know the tranny will have to be addressed too). I see a drastic swing in cost. Bosch 275s are as low as $225 and other similar hp injectors are well over $500. Whats up with this?? . What am I getting for the 100% difference in $$?? Thanks. Tim.

Why do they cost more ???

275's are a straight bosch part. No extra work needed.
The "extrude hone" stages I to III are injectors that have been modified, that takes time and equipment. Also the flow is matched more closely.
The "EDM" 's are also modified so they take time and equipment as well. And the flow is matched more closely in most cases.
If you don't have old injector bodies, you need "new" ones for to use....hence the core charge most of the time.
Does that explain it any better?

Re:Injector Differences
Thanks. The HP difference is a reasonable justification if it requires additional work. I really want a stage II type injector as I read on one site that they actually smoke less. By the same token, that extra cost could be put towards a Comp. I am not sure I want the wire at this point but I like the idea of adjustability on the low end. I am not after a drag truck yet but would like to bump the performance a little. DC detuning is a major source of irritation for me. Sure wish I had got the manual trans.

Re:Injector Differences
On the extrude hone process ( actually pushing abrasive clay through the injector to achieve the bigger holes needed) it is quite difficult to obtain a good spray pattern and high flow. It takes some more work to get the flow patterns right with the bigger holes.
The EDM process makes new holes. Some part of the price is also R&D to produce good power on the one side and to avoid problems like delayed burn, cylinder wall washing, bowl edge burning etc.

Just my 2c

AlpineRAM
