Increased EGT with smarty?
I got my smarty tonite, hooked er up and went straight to #9. After she was warmed up all good, i proceeded to pound the heck out of her for a little bit. Very impressive, but my egts were much higher than with the VA box. Im not complaining, just wondering if this was normal on #9? EGT was 1455 at 100mph from a dead stop. With the VA i never got over 1275.
Anyone else notice this?
hx35 turbo, not sure on the injectors, but i am guessing the are stock, or maybe the smallest upgrade, they did smoke from a dead stop when i didnt have va or smarty. Bret

You're also pushing your turbo past it's efficiency range, and your compressor discharge temps are much higher.
Hotter intake air= higher EGT.

RJ- why is it you guys all seem to have lower EGT's with stacked boxes and higher HP levels? With my Edge on 5/5, my EGT's scream, like well above 1300. What gives? The probe is in the manifold where it was recomended, I have tha big downpipe and exhaust, big air filter...I dont get it.

My comment was lower egt's, relative to what I got before. I can still hit 1400* with my big single turbo!

with no box and no elbow all i could hit was 23.7 boost. if i remeber right, i could hit 1400 egt with no box and no elbow on wot. not pulling anything. VA and elbow lowered egts alot, now with smarty egts are coming back up, on #9. lots and lots of smoke ticked off two people enuff on the way home from work, that they motioned to me that i was #1
the VA is not on the truck, just the smarty. and it freakin ROCKS !
