An idea I have on gauge mounting
I am going to install an after market stereo in my truck and was thinking why couldnt I put the new stereo where the useless cup holder is with a bit of cutting if need be and puting my fuel pressure, trans temp and boost gauges in the factory stereo spot. Pyro would go on a sigle pillar. Anyone see problems with this idea?

IMO just leave radio in factory place and pull junk cup holder out and make a plate for gauges. i've seen a few on here and looked sweet. take alot less fabbing also.

I'm with shovelhead, I don't like pillar mounts (takes eyes off road a bit much) so I put a 3 gauge holder on the dash, I put mine almost center of steering wheel. Very convenient to look at while driving in traffic.

I just kind of thought that the new cd/ipod players are pretty thin and the gauges would fit better in the large spot. Not worried about the fab side of things cause thats fun. The cup holder seems a bit small for gauges unless someone has tried it and they fit.

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!
I don't care who you are, dat ^^^^^ rite there is FUnnnY!!!
Definitely don't see a problem, BUT... The best way to see is to do a mock up. Probably wouldn't take a lot of time, and you could drive with it a few days. Might not be as good a spot as you think, the angle might be kinda steep (glare?, recessed face might be blocked by edge of gauge?), but then again, might be the best yet.
If you do decide to put them in there, I for one would like to see a pic of it. Sounds like a real cool project!
