i wanna install torque converter lock up switch
i got a 95...i like the idea of the lock up switch for my towing for long highway cruises...i looked up the instructions on the TST site for the lock up switch....please send me more links with me more detailed instructions guys...
also for those who have it ..give me feedback please before i do that

I've towed a 10K lb. 5th wheel RV about 45k miles without a manual lockup switch. I installed the BD pressureloc on my AT quite some time ago and it is worth every penny it cost. It keeps the line pressure high to prevent the convertor from unlocking unless you remove pressure from the accelerator. The dash switch may be handy but my wife drives some when we are traveling with the RV and that would be another thing to manipulate while driving. You will find about 3 different "inventions" for making the convertor lock by a switch somewhere here and on dieselram.com

I have one, and i really like it. My torque converter slips bad if i lay into it hard, but my truck is modified with a basically stock tranny to though, so i guess thats to be expected. It really helps you slow down, but it doesent want to downgear very good at all with it on, but if you were in 3rd gear, and you flipped it on while you were slowing down, it would help a lot. It keeps the tranny from ever kicking out of lockup in overdrive when you have it on, and if you hit a hill while pulling, it will make it stay locked up, and will put all the power you have to the ground, unless it slips like mine. mrT, This is the setup I did with my truck. I used TST's instructions and added an unlock option. When pulling the trailer or accelerating hard, I can prevent lockup until I let out of the throttle a little.

Steve, I'm curious why you used a relay in your setup?

Using a three way switch I have three options. Normal, force lock, and force unlock. The normal circuit flows through the normally closed on the relay, powering up the relay breaks the circuit and forces unlock. This could be done by switches but I needed the 12 volt source for the lighted switch anyway.

What exactly does this lockup switch do? What RPM will I be doing at 80 MPH, now I am just over 2000 at that speed. Would this switch increase fuel mileage?

I doubt if it will increase fuel mileage, because your torqe converter should be locked up at 80mph anyway. You can tell when it locks up when its in high gear, and the rpm's drop all of a sudden(probably at around 50mph), and it starts pulling harder. All this switch does, is allows the Torque Converter to be locked up in 2nd through 4th gears any time you want. When the TC is locked up, it just puts more power to the ground. I never use mine in normal driving, but if i want to lug the motor some, and make it smoke a lot i can use the switch to do that. Dont forget to cut it off after your done using it though, or you might rear end someone, because its like leaving the clutch out in a manual truck. Until you flip the switch to unlock it, it will pull just like a manual in 2nd through 4th gear when the switch is on. It wont lock up in first for some reason, but thats probably a good thing.
