yes it is...i am actually contemplating in my head now about how much it would cost to get myself a full billet DTT, suncoast or other tranny and swap it in with a nice floor style slap shifter. basically all i need is a stock auto center console, and a PCM, and the tranny, the rest is the close to the same. looking at about $6500 tho and my credit card says no way.
a $200 6th gear set and $300 labor is alot easier at this point

you may need new bearings. I dont know how yours will be but after a total of 8miles on mine when I drained the oil it was so thick with brass particals I thought I struck gold. Something to keep in mind befor you drive it to far like that.

it seems to me like when a stick starts giving trouble, then it will never be right again. I know that isnt always the case, but it sure seems like the ones I have seen are that wat. My buddy has had a LOT of trouble from his nv4500 in his 98 24 valve. Had it rebuilt once. Then he twisted the mainshaft in half. Got a used main shaft, and had it rebuilt again, and it still isnt completely right from what he says. This is all beside the fact that his 3rd injection pump is going out

MR. knowitall...im not paying $2000 to rebuild the enitre tranny because you tried to rebuild yours on your own and it had problems again. i've seen all the internals and bearings and they have been in an chemical and steam bath to remove all the old oil and any contaminants. this time i completely SNAPPED a synchro ring that prevents 6th gear from engaging and that has nothing to do with anything thats happened before. the more i think about the more im thinking that i was getting lazy (it was almost 2 am and i was tired) on that shift and i prolly only pushed the clutch in half way, and then let the clutch out too quick/early while it wasn't all the way in gear, and damaging the synchro ring.

I've thought about the same thing, but I would just go w/ a full manual valve body... but... it's more realistic at this point to patch it up and keep on rolling vs. dropping $7k or whatever
