i need a new LP

There has been alot of discussion on here lately about lift pumps. I finally got my x-monitor fp gauge installed and working. Its about 12-13lbs idle. I can pull it down to 3lbs at wot.

I installed the sender at the inlet side of the fuel filter per b-d instructions. I think i will be moving this to post filter, as I'm guessing my fp at vp-44 is prolly VERY low.

I need honest educated answers on the less expensive pumps(carter, holley, stock?). I AM NOT INTERESTED IN FASS OR WALBRO. I dont have the funds for expensive setups right now. I prolly will be relocating to frame rail.

What are YOUR experiences with these pumps? Reliabilty, pressure, and cost? I will only be adding a van aaken, and possibly rv275 or mach 1.6 at most for injectors. These are the only add ons I will be getting in the next 60-75000 miles.

Thank you in advance, this is a fantastic website. But to much arguing lately about fass and walbro. Bret

Dad`s FP was about the same as your measuring it at the VP. Thats what started our interest in all this. I`m not starting anything here, but we only have about $175 in the Walbro conversion. A holley blue may be a cheaper alternative though, choice is up to you. We also installed a Vulcan big line kit when we did it, so that was another $110. His fp is now 17psi @ idle and 10psi @ WOT.

IMHO Best bang for the buck is the vulcan relocation kit and the stock pump. I love the va and will buy 1.6's when funds allow. Good Luck!!

www.hoeslidiesel.com has the best price I've found for the stock Cummins Part numbered Transfer/Lift pump.
