I need to increase fuel pressure

Whats the easiest or cheapest way to increase my fuel pressure? I idle at about 13 and it can get all the way down to 5 psi. Am I best to do the big fuel line kit or dual Lift pumps?

I would do both. the pusher pump will help a ton and the big line kit is one of the best mods for big fuel requirements. I run a carter pusher and a vulcan kit and it is always above 20psi

With low pressures like that, you had better replace that lift pump with something, or you'll be replacing the injection pump, too!

Smile vulcanperformance.com

I just installed the Vulcan pusher set up tonight. I was also hitting 5-6 at WOT with a new lift pump. Now I can not get it below 11. Took me a few hours and now I feel so much better. I ended up buying the fittings, mount, small items and it was under $100.

Just do it!

Too much pressure

I've read the above post. Some of you are at the other extreme, 20 lbs. of pressure. Is this too much, is it bad? Not sure if it applies.

Thanks

I second the recommendation for the Vulcan kit. It will relocate your stock pump to the frame. I can't drop it below 12. If you just want the lines you can support DTR and pick up the Scotty fuel kit.

Bill K, at DTT, has been playing with the new "RASP" mechanical fuel pump they sell. He reports that when he raises fuel pressure to the VP-44, the fuel temp in the return line increases. I don't remember the numbers, but this is not a good side effect of higher fuel pressures, IMO.

Bosch designed the VP-44 for 14 psi inlet pressure. Seems to me anything over this in not needed or advantagous. The trick is to maintain 14 psi through all hp & tq levels! This can be done with the RASP, I think. My FASS will come close... idling at 14 psi and never dropping below 12.5 (and then only for 1 sec before coming back up) at WOT. JMHO

For HP levels below 450, I believe the larger fuel lines and banjo fittings (like the Vulcan or Scotty's Smart Fuel System) are a good, ecomnomical way to keep pressures up.
