ordered the Holley....do I need to run the regulator?
Where can I pick up a Holley Blue pump locally? I need one ASAP. I tried O'Rieleys, but they couldnt get one till friday. Pep boys? Napa?
I ordered the holley from summit, I was wondering do I need to run the regulator?

I ran the regulator on mine and set it to 20psi.Mine idled at about 27 as well with out it which in my opinion is a little high.I think 20 might actually be more than you need, but better like that than too low I guess.I think too much pressure is hard on the seals in the VP.With it set like that it cruises at about 16-17psi.

IMO, slightly higher than 14 isn't gonna hurt anything, but I'd personally stay below 18-20 at all times.

Holley Blue Pressure????
Ok...I just put my Holley blue pump on this weekend..now this is a pump i have had for years...(it is new) i also have the Vulcan relocation kit, which gets rid of the banjo fittings and jumps the hose up to 1/2"....well my pressure is only 12 psi at idle and 9 at WOT with NO regulator...whats up with this,,,,is there something on the pump i need to look at?? cause i dont think thats the right pressure....thanks for any info...

Line size
I think that the difference in fuel line size is making the difference in your pressure readings.
the larger the line the more flow and less pressure. The smaller the line the more resistance to flow and hence more pressure.

For those of you with larger lines, did you replace the return lines also? I was told not to worry about them when I installed mine but now that I am thinking about it where does all that pressure go that the pump doesn't use. I'm only running about 13 pounds through mine with no banjos to slow it down. Is this increasing the pressure on the VP?

My opinion is don't run the regulator. You have a return line from the vp44 so that takes the excess and cools the injection pump. In addition the Holley's have a relief valve so the pressure can't get too high. Set at 14lbs. I do believe. I didn't run the reg with mine.
