I just put a holley blue on my truck 2 weeks ago, no regulator. Idle 27 psi, WOT 25 psi. Not sure if the high pressure is a bad thing or not.

I ran the regulator on mine and set it to 20psi.Mine idled at about 27 as well with out it which in my opinion is a little high.I think 20 might actually be more than you need, but better like that than too low I guess.I think too much pressure is hard on the seals in the VP.With it set like that it cruises at about 16-17psi.

It IS bad. Ask yourself why Bosch designed into the VP44 a bypass valve that's supposed to keep pressure at 14psi or less.

IMO, slightly higher than 14 isn't gonna hurt anything, but I'd personally stay below 18-20 at all times.

Are you running the Blue by itself? I have a feeling the high numbers above are because its being used as a pushin in conjunction with the stock pump. Or perhaps its running a different spring which allows for higher pressure.

Line size

I think that the difference in fuel line size is making the difference in your pressure readings.
the larger the line the more flow and less pressure. The smaller the line the more resistance to flow and hence more pressure.

For those of you with larger lines, did you replace the return lines also? I was told not to worry about them when I installed mine but now that I am thinking about it where does all that pressure go that the pump doesn't use. I'm only running about 13 pounds through mine with no banjos to slow it down. Is this increasing the pressure on the VP?

My opinion is don't run the regulator. You have a return line from the vp44 so that takes the excess and cools the injection pump. In addition the Holley's have a relief valve so the pressure can't get too high. Set at 14lbs. I do believe. I didn't run the reg with mine.
