HY 35 steel waist-gate line

Can you cut this line and install a valve to increase boost? Has anyone done this? Can I just cut and block off the line?

Just crimp the steel line shut.................seemed to work fine for as long as my OEM turbo was on the truck.

Put a turnbuckle on the wastegate and lock it shut. With more fuel you can get about 32 to 34 psi out of the HY.........and that is max. They came from the factory gated at 20psi but they are good up to the 32-34......after that is when it's making / producing only hot air....not the 20psi as Taken stated above.

Did the turnbuckle as well. Pushing ~31 psi. Turnbuckle is less permanent if you decide to get rid of the turbo later.

Dukektm - Welcome to DTR!

I did quite a bit of testing when I had an HY-35, and agree with Nick.
I found up to 30-32 psi I was still inside the efficiency MAP and still reading 'compression' pressure. Above that boost gauge shows more 'expansion' pressure than anything else (from heat buildup), and makes no more HP/TQ.

30 psi would be a good, conservative boost level to insure max cooling and performance.

I removed the canister and stuffed a 22 shell in the line and reassembled, good to go after that. Had to wrinkle the end of the shell just a bit to get it started in the tube.

However your HY is junk and you need to send it to me ASAP, order a new fancy turbo from HTT and be done.
Seriously I need a HY for my Toy so hurry up!

Thanks for the tips. I thought that plugging the line would be easier then trying to wedge a turnbuckle into that tight area. I will need trans. upgrades before adding any more power. So I will keep the HY for now.
