Hx50w?

Hx50w?
Howdy all, has anyone ever tried an HX50W as a single? The one I'm thinking about has a 17cm^2 wastegated exhaust housing with a T-4 flange and a 61mm inducer wheel on the compressor side. I am not looking to make this my permanent charger, just something to hold me over until the cash is abundant enough to get probably a Pro Street or Silver Bullet. Mounting it and making a downpipe won't be a problem, I am pretty good with a welder and doing precise measuring Would it spool much worse than a 60mm inducer'd HX40 using an 18cm^2 housing? Does anyone have any ideas on the amount of boost it could push reliably? Sorry for making a long post! Any info is appreciated!

I ran a HX50W , its ok 450+ charger with enough fuel , mine spooled good for having a 17cm housing , i made 50+ lbs with it , i wouldnt try no more than that , if its cheap say under 400 i go for it , you can always sell it to the tractor pullers they go crazy over 50s

I had one on mine, but it was way laggy and it had a 16cm housing. It made good power but it also shelled after 200 miles for no reason. I'm not a big fan of Holset. The only one I like is either the hx-35 or the PDR40 for a top turbo for twins.

I think I'm going to try it, when I get it since it is used I'm going to take everything apart and clean it and inspect for fatigued components. It has a 72mm exducer on the turbine wheel and a 61mm inducer on the compressor side, I'm hoping I can get performance capabilities similar to a PS62 or atleast close. I was thinking about polishing the inside of the exhaust housing to see if that will help initial spool-up, and I am going to put a boost elbow on it and set it for 40ish PSI to start with... I also have some Columbus Diesel injectors comming that are 5 holes at .017 diameter, I think that should be enough fuel What does everyone think about that?
