HX40 vs SPS62 ???

Ok guys im just curious. I am always thinking about what I want to do to my truck I would eventually like to go to a little bigger single, and I was wondering what the differences in these 2 turbo's are. I know everyone considers the SPS62 to be better, and my buddy has one and it is a really sweet turbo. Spools good, and made the truck run much better. I know the 40's are bad about breaking shafts if you bark them, and im an auto and that is hard to keep from doing... So how does a 40 cool compared to a SPS62? What is the compressor wheel on a 40? 62mm? How will it spool compared to the SPS? It just seems that you can buy one for half the price of the SPS and eventually when I go bigger, I wouldnt mind to try one if I knew I wouldnt kill it real fast. Thanks guys

I'd like to hear about the HX40 also. I've been thinking about going to the local Semi junkyard and see if I can find a really cheap hx40 and send it off to be twicked a bit like a super 40. What all is modified to the super 40 when compared to a stock 40.

Uh..... sps62. No Question. The hx 40 is VERY weak anything over about 400 hp, ive broke 5! Sps62 is much more durable, much more effective, handles more boost longer and lots better spool up, Check with Olee poole or doug smith, Olee sells HTT , Doug Sells both. There both very good turbos! I would recomend a 40 over 400 hp, Not very good towing turbo eaither, Back spools and breaks shafts

Go Schwitzer....Holset's are junk on anything far past stock!

A HTBG or Super B would spool good, and make a heck of a top charger in a twinset!

I've seen some surge problems on 12v's with 62mm chargers...but that was on a stick truck, B1, and towing HEAVY!

As a low budget, starter kit for more air, I guess the HX-40 still has a place... but there is no comparison between the two you ask about.
IMO, Holsett is way behind on R&D for our trucks when adding HP.... and the HX-40 is the weakest of that brand, for our needs.

Edit: Guess Chris types faster than do I... so I'll just say 'DITTO'

Call turbosupply and check out the s300g. They wanted 850 for it when I called about a week and a half ago. Also I believe they can upgrade it to the 62mm compressor, but if they can't I know HTT can.

Question

Also if your trying not to bark the turbo would a BOV help reduce the chance of tearing up the shaft on a 40? Or any other turbo for that matter?
