HX40 question - 1 million and 1

Gentlemen,

My HX35 is shot, and am in need of a cheap replacement asap. I can get a slightly used HX40 cheap. It has the 60mm compressor wheel, T3 flange, and a wastegated 16cm3 exhaust housing.

My question is, I have a Banks 14cm3 exhaust housing on my HX35 turbo. Will this housing work with the HX40? Is it a simple swap? That way I won't have to mess with finding a HX40 downpipe. Or should I leave the turbo as is with current mods in my sig? I read everything I could on the HX40 and seams the 16 housing might be a little laggy.

Also, towing is kept to a minimum - never more than 18,500 combined weight and very rarely. Truck is mainly for street use.

Thanks for your input!

Don't hold me to this, but I'm pretty certain the housings are not interchangeable.

Depends on your definition of laggy, but I certainly don't think they are. I'd much rather have a turbo with a 4" outlet, that was a little laggier, than a turbo with a 3" outlet.

HX40 DP's can be found fairly cheap as well.

Call up Industrial injection. Their turbo wearhouse is large and pretty in charge, Im sure they could tell you exactly whats up about swappin holset parts.

There is a differance between 4''/3'' and 16cm/14cm though.
A 14cm would do very well where as a 16 would be a bit laggy, 4'' DP or not, IMO.

14cm exhaust housings require a 4'' DP normally though, do they not?
