It won't do you any good because they are the same turbo. BigBlue & 3KrackerRacing are both right they didn't start using the HY until 2000 on the autos (forgot to mention that).

The HX35 will handle a max of 485hp with no egt issues as long as boost is not pushed past 34lbs.

Well **** looks like I will be good with my hx35. Seriously, I just put some mach2s in with my comp box. Will be curious to see what happens with EGTs.

Maybe, if you don't tow anything.

I'm hoping my HY will handle the 450ish HP I'm going for eventually.

Don't tow anything, just daily driver, offroad explorer.

But I though that the Hx35 and even the Hy35 will handle hp up to 350-400. I havent heard of anyone going 485hp with single hx35 or hy35. Maybe im wrong and need to look around.

Like they said above...the HX and HY WILL handle this power...given boost is not in the 36+ PSI range. However....this is only accomplished with regular drivers....any towing or racing up hills and the EGT's will shoot through the roof. It is much safer to get a HX40 or B1 if you surpass the 420 bhp mark and want to pull anything. Just too be safe

Check out this web page.

Ted Jannetty of Jannetty Racing did a review on upgrading the ISB engines. This is a great way to look at how to properly bomb your ctd. Enjoy the reading.

a hx 35 will not support 485 hp without egt issues. you can get the hp out of one but it will get hot quick. i have 430 hp with the stock hx35 with a 14cm exhaust housing, and it will bury the pyro at will. i can tow just fine but it would be killer with some more air.
