It should be enough for 400hp, but I would think the Super B would get toasty at higher RPM with a load or high speed!

A regular PDR40 has been taking to 520hp, so I'd say a Super 40 could handle 400hp with ease.

For hard hauling/towing, turbo limits are MUCH lower than people want to admit.

The HT3B that's used as a big charger in twin setups came factory on 350hp and 400hp engines.

Keep things in perspective.

With the 490hp setting it's not as bad as you might think. When set to kill they peak about 1500 degrees and less in cool weather. The injectors that it ran 540 hp with made it a couple/few hundred degrees hotter. This is with a 16cm2 housing on a PDR40. You can tow with it pretty easily, even heavy, but you can't use all 490 hp obviously.

Thanks for all the feed back guys! This is making my decision a little bit easier now.

Well I really dont tow that much and when I do its not anything heavy. Maybe a 20ft center console and some 4wheelers and thats about it and I will be driving this truck daily.

http://www.performancedieselwarehouse.com/ sells the Super 40s for $850, but I'm sure that doesnt include the down pipe either. Maybe since they are one of our venders they could help a guy out and make some kind of deal.

I appreciate all the help, keep the comments coming!

Have you considered the Diesel Dynamics Jammer turbo. They still make them, and they are stronger than the 40's, but spool pretty quick.
I've run the 40's from Piers to 538HP on my old 2000 with a DD cam, and EGT's hit 1450 max.
The DD Jammer I had on my 03, would peak at 1200 degrees when I was right at 396HP. I have a 2001 I put the Hot Comp, mach2.4's, Jammer turbo, AFE Stage2, Rip's 4 inch exhaust and his EGT ceiling was about 1450, but when you were approaching 100mph.

Fred, did they get the issues sorted out with that charger???

It's been VERY quiet on them since the early problems with them exploding.

The charger looked very promising to me, on paper-- and I was SO disappointed to see them not holding together.

What did they do to fix them?

That was the Jammer II that was a BB Turbonetics rebadge and blew up on a few guys. The regular Jammer is more or less a HX-40 copy with a standard bearing, etc.

Hohn, as banshee stated, I was referring to the original Jammer. The Jammer 2, is available, and they have worked out the issues they had with them.

I tested one of the original jammer 2's(BB turbo) on my old 03 with DD2's, TST and VA3.1 and it worked very good. It then went on an 05 auto with just a Juice, and is working great. And now that 05 owner has switched to a TST/BDDL setup, and is saying it is still working great. He tows a trailer delivering golf carts with the 05, and says it works great.

Hohn, I put 45K miles on my Jammer, then sold it to Greg at DRC, and he's probably got another 20K on that turbo, and it still works like day one. I've kept it under 45psi, and I know Greg is right around 38-40psi with it, and the EGT's on his are not an issue at all. And with the way he drives, that's a good thing.
