Re:Huh?
Yep this went around a short while ago, still an interesting concept. I thought rendering companies bought that stuff from the restaurants, but then I am only basing that on seeing the trucks pick it up.
Either way I got a feeling driving around in something smelling like french fries just might be a quick way to get hit in the rearend by a hungry individual

Re:Huh?
Hmmmm based on the info on the site I posted all you have to do is strain the stuff thru a 5 micron filter sock.......that doesnt seem like a lot of trouble.......nor much expense.

Re:Huh?
Just imagine the aroma, if you fuel up at McDonalds the exhaust will smell like french fries. Next fill up at Dunken Donuts and the aroma of hot buttermilk or perhaps glazed?? Oh and you can’t leave out filling up at Long John Silvers and the Fish and Chips scented fuel. This would really drive people wild. Out in Montana 60 miles from the nearest McDonalds and the people in the car following you have this sudden craving for french fries.

Re:Huh?
From what I'm seeing on that site, you have to run the WVO through a .5 micron filter sock! I hate to think how much patience that would take. Looks like you can buy an electric trransfer pump and maybe a housing that holds the filter sock. At least that way you could put a little pressure behind it.

Maybe if you had several local eateries that would give you their waste oil... Still, investment in time, equipment would take a whiile to pay off. Also not very good for around town driving- have to wait to kick in veggie power until it's warmed enough, then run 5 minutes on diesel before shutting down. Might make sense for someone who does alot of highway driving.

Another site I had once looked at described the exhaust as smelling like chicken-fried steak! Um, yum, yum! ;D

Well......I have 177,000 miles on a 2001 truck I bought in new Jan of 2001......I would say that qualifies me as someone who puts a LOT of highway miles on ;D

Though I have to admit the time factor in rounding up sufficient quantities is probably the biggest issue......Now if MickeyD's would install a pump at the drive thru so I could order my burger and fries while filling up the it would get a whole lot more attractive LOL

Re:Huh?
I can see it now...-30F and my fuel tank is a white blob of grease. I know the idea has merit but I would watch what it does in temps below 70F. We've all seen what grease looks like after the fry pan cools off.

I could save a lot in the summer by running the drip tray of my George Foreman custom installed Grill from the cab of my truck to the tank.

I wonder if I could run 'other' things from the cab to the tank too? Then I'd never need to stop...kind of a methane situation. LOL

Sorry I got off the topic a bit.

Maybe it works good in an auto tranny too. :P
