I've been told that the HT3B is too small to run with my HTT 62/14. I've read on here that it's a popular combo. Some one suggested a S400, would that be better for what I want?
My goals:
-500HP (so not to nuke my NV4500 12.5 clutch)
-Drive daily and some longer trips
-Have enough power to beatup a Powerjoke or Duramax.
-be reliable
Am I asking for to much here? What do you guys think?
Thanks again

As far as a 3b being too small. In a word, no. In fact, if you are looking for only 500 to 525 hp it is a bit big. It is cheap, just like the S400 is cheap. By cheap i don't mean bad, just inexpensive. They are both a bit slow to spool at the 500hp level. I run an SPS62 secondary with K31 primary. It will spool quicker than the 3b with a small housing, and alot quicker than the S400. I have run a 62/.8 over 3B, and I think that with a 22 or 23 housing it is a better daily driver setup than an S400. Like most people you will want 600 after you get 500, and then you will probably want 700... and so on. But for 500 a k31 is better than a 3b or S400 in my opinion. I have tried 9 setups so far. As a side note, the S400 and K31 are interchangeable by just sliding your downpipe and exhaust back and forth about 1.5 inches. I have both the k31 and the B2/80mm. The k31 for towing and daily driving is a hoot! The B2 makes about 30 more hp, but it is all on the top end.

Some info. It is a common turbo for a Detroit 60 series motor. Wastegated exhaust housing. They are more expensive than an S400 or 3B( aound $925). But the wastegate is a very usefull item, and they spool very fast. With my truck just over the 500hp mark(all the time as I don't have a valet switch) I run around 600-625 deg at highway speed in the flats(65-70mph) and I can go over Donner Pass on highway 80 at 65-70 mph with the pyro under 850.

Actually, if you call HTT the s400 and the K31 are the same price and they are both cheaper than city diesel. You said your "B2" is a 80mm compressor wheel. Do you think that may be why it's slower to spool.

I have not driven the 80mm version yet. The spoolup comparison I mentioned was with the regular S400. The 80 will be slower still, but I won't be daily driving it. If HTT has them for less, that would be the place to go. They were More expensive for the S400 when i bought mine. Keep in mind that I am running 80hp injectors so I may not spool a turbo as fast as some do. But the relationship will be the same. K31 is fastest, 3B with small housing is next, s400 is slower. With larger injectors a larger turbo will spool faster and may be acceptable for daily driving.

Ron knows turbos as he's tried darn near all of em' !! Also his truck spools insantly, it's crazy how it's always "on" boost runs very clean and unbelievably cool for his power level!!

I'm running DDP stage 5's (200HP), I'm thinking of going down to the stage 4's (150HO).
So RonA - In your humble opinion, how do you think me running my HTB2 62/14 with HT3B 20cm ex housing work? Here is what else I have:
HTB2 62/14
HT3B (20cm Ex Housing)
DDP Stage 5's (200hp)
Edge Juice w/Attitude
AFE stage 2 Progaurd
4" to 5" stack
ARP studs -- fire ringed head
Fluidampr
Aeromotive LP w/larger lines to stock VP44
Thanks

That is one of the advantages of the K31(built in wastegate), but if it becomes a problem, add a wastegate to your hot pipe. With my 3b-23cm I saw about 34psi from the primary at the 500hp mark,(35/40 on top).

I must correct my earlier statement. I called and talked with HTT again today and the person I talked with this time told me the K31 IS more. I did not get a price, but who knows. Guess I should have bought one the first go round.
