Kurt,

The HX/HT60 turbo is similar in size to a B2. Of course there are different variations in each model of turbo though. I know of two that are in use as a primaries.

Thanks Nate,I know a guy that is a tractor puller & he is running the 60 with a h2 in a twin setup on a small oliver, something like a little over 300 cubes & hes making huge power.Around 1000 horse the last i heard. But then again he has a highly modified motor with billet crank a custom pump, pistons, cam you name it hes got it.I was amazed at how much power hes making with these turbos & i was just curious to know how big the 60 really is & how much air it can flow. Its amazing how much you can learn from a veteran tractor puller .I just wish i had a 12 valve to play with or at least the 7100 pump.

Thanks, the Big Brother was really easy as the casting is nice, it took about 2 1/2 hours, the 40 took 12 hours at least......rough casting, same with the little neck, probably have an hour in it.

The ht4b and I believe the ht4c came off from the 444 cummins with step timeing. Some of those had factory twins.

Yikes! That's the first BB pic I have seen, and I can see now why people were talking about how tight a fit it is! HUGE!!

Yeah, I think the BB will give you enough air

Is this fit on your 12V any tighter that on a 24V? How is the install of twins on a 12V different than a 24V? Seems to me like there would not be much of a difference.

How much air will the BB move? 2000cfm plus?

Did you have lower compression pistons installed? I would say with that much air you could/should maybe lose some CR.

Jim,
Are you using an external wastegate or are you gonna stick with the factory 40 wastegate?

From Left to right...
My Old PDR 40/18, my new Baby '55, my old HT3B, and my new HT4C...

As you could see, the 1st turbo, and 3rd turbo (40-3B) is what most people use for a twin turbo setup, and that setup works very well, and Jim Fulmer can attest to that.

The 2nd Charger, and the Charger on the far right are the turbo's in my new twin turbo setup. As you can see, the new twin setup should flow more air. A BB is close to the size of my 4C.

How are you guys supporting the weight of these turbos? Surely you aren't hanging ALL that weight from the manifold, are you?

Wouldn't some kind of fabbed brace or bracket be appropriate?

I'm not sure how much mine weigh, but I could barely pick them up with my one free hand to put them in.... And, I can pick up my t-case with one hand.

I just hang 'em therre.. only problem I have had is with the turbo's loosening up from the weight on the studs, and heat cycles. Most twin turbo trucks see some crazy heat cycles.....

Although most heads will probably support the weight, bracing is still not a bad idea. I have a 12 valve head at the house that has every top bolt hole ear broke off of it and it was only supporting the weight of the 35/3B combo. Be careful! SS

Close, along the same lines as a 91mm Thumper from Turbonetics! No one really knows, what will tell the tale is air temps, mine is setup to measure air temps at the hat and between the stages as well as boost!

Internal with the PDR modifications for the Twins.....no I won't talk about it! It is identical to the Piers Twins except I used the B/B instead of the 3B, if changes need to be made then I'll make them as it's a one off deal and no one other than Me and Maddog use this turbo. Ken and I went over several things he wants to try on it so one of use will be testing that in the future.
