HT3B vs. B2
Has anyone switched from an Ht3b to a B2 turbo and seen any measurable improvement, I have heard the b2 is supposed to flow more air but that is compared to a stock HT3B, and the b2 is a worked over schwitzer not a stock turbo, so how does a modified HT3B compare with a B2. I don't think there would be much difference between the two modified turbos, but comparing a stock turbo to a modified turbo is a no contest

Comparing a modder HT3B and a B2 is more realistic, as you mention.
Bottom line is that the 3b has a compressor wheel designed 30 years ago. B2 is a much newer design, and should be more efficient.
I'd personally go with an HX60 in lieu of an HT3b for Holsets, and the B2 is always a good choice.

I was kinda wondering the same thing myself, and if a B2 is more effecient and flows more air then why do so many people go the HT3B route, is it because of cost? Or is it easier to package under the hood? Just curious as I have been researching on building a set of twins for my truck.

I think it's because the 3b is so cheap, even modded. That, and you can get differently sized turbine housings to help with tuning the setup.
B2 is easier to package, as I understand it because it counter-rotates.

How much will a B2 set you back and what size housings are available? Now the B2 flows more air, is it a larger turbo, meaning spoolup might be sacraficed? Or is drivability comparable between the two?

I am getting ready to switch to a b2 from a 3b26 and will post the results. The 3b will make good power on a 24v but the temps will get up there with mach7s. I am looking more for egt reduction than additional power. Tim

Does anyone know if Ht3bs made by different companys such as holset ,borg warner, and garret have different compressors/turbines/trims, I have heard a borg warner is stronger than the other brands, and a garret is 7% more efficient but I don't know for sure, maybe all Ht3bs aren't the same

There is a brand new Ht3b for sale on the TDR ($450). The B2's are back ordered for another month. Nobody seems to have one. I called TAD and they are hoping to get some parts in 3-4 weeks.
