HRVP or reman VP + Injectors

I am new to the site but have been following it for a few months, I want to Know what other people think would be the best route for me to take. I have a almost dead VP and have to pony up some $$ for a new one should I get a Hot Rod VP, and save for injectors later or get a stock VP plus Injectors. also if i am to get Injectors what kind? I do have a heavy right foot (not while towing), but I tow a race car durring the summer/fall (car + Trailer + Gear = 11000 LBS) EGT are important. Thanks for any help!!

WELCOME to DTR. That is a is a good ? first off do you have a HO or SO motor? are you planning on upgrading the turbo some day? stock turbo and 100 extra hp = high egt's when towing. do you already have gauges? what hp are you shooting for? If your just going for 450 hp on a HO or 500 hp with a SO stick with the stock pump.(IMO) I would call Doug at PDW and ask him, he is more up to date on what's out there, and will get you the most bang for you buck

He's got an edge comp on his HO. As far as I can tell the HRVP was worth around 80 hp on my truck and the difference in cost is simular to the cost of 80 hp injectors. With HRVP or injectors you're going to start getting hot- think about a turbo upgrade soon. Heck might as well add a clutch to the list while you're at it. Do you have guages??

Thanks for the reply, I thought my info that I posted about my truck would follow me when I posted or replied. so here is the info to help you help me!!
I have a 2001 HO/6 speed (82500 miles and not under warranty due to being a Canadian Model sold to me in the states)with a Edge Comp (wire is taped) a FASS 150, BHAF, and Gauges on order not here yet. I will in time jump up the size of turbo, but cash flow tends to get slow from time to time. I would like to get in the range of 450 to 500 hp out of her. I love the truck and want to make it last for a long while. I tow a open goose neck trailer, or my friends 28' inclosed with race cars. I'll Know what my egt are in a week if I can get the time off to put the gauges in. Again thanks for the replys!!

If you only want to be in the 450-500 range stick with the stock pump. The money you'll save can go towards a new turbo. You should be able to get to your goal pretty easy with the stock pump.

OK, even with just the comp your clutch is on borrowed time. So save about $800 for a single or $1800 for a dual disk, because sooner than later you will need it

You've got a similar truck to mine. I ran 390 hp with Mach 1.5 injectors, Edge comp with wire tapped. Also present were gauges, 4" exhaust, and Scotty II air intake. That was a good running and good towing combination with the stock turbo. I also had the BD pusher pump kit to support fuel supply. Later I added the Smarty, but never dyno'd it with that combo. Great running street combo though.

On the HRVP, I have one but don't have a verdict on it yet. Seems to run good with no box, but havn't gotten the top end tuning right yet with the boxes.

If you go to "USER CP" in the top tool bar on this site you can fill in your truck info that you mention in the last post into the signature area so eveyone will be better able to answer your questions in the future.

Good luck with your mods, Matt
