Hey guys
My friend has a 99 3500 with 201k miles and is VP could be dead its getting diagnosed today.
I was wondering would replacing it with a HRVP put out to much fuel for a stock turbo and transmission?
thanks,
Andrew

I put one on mine and was told that the stock tranny would hold fine, HOWEVER, I drive very easy and don't beat on it at all. They say that it adds about 100HP to the engine, and whether that it true or not, there is a big difference I felt. I could easily see destroying your stock tranny really quick if you are either towing heavy all the time or doing boosted launches a lot though. I do like the pump a lot though

Yes they did, cruising they stayed the same, but when you get on it your dumping more fuel than the stock pump so they go up. I definately need more air now. I was told that I might see more MPG, but no matter what I do, I still see the same as before. That is better than worse though right? I figure it is pretty tough to get REALLY good MPG out of a 1 ton dually with 4.10's though. She's a pretty big truck. If you have more questions, ask away

The II HRVP gives 70-80 hp and being new should give you better mpg than your old worn out vp. But it also gives more fuel at WOT and can burn more mpg.
Get the HRVP and if you were thinking an ez or such you won't need one.
You can use your right foot to control the power level!

I had one on my old 98.5 not worth the money in my opinion get a good rebuilt pump (bluechip) and a good box and you'll be much happier ($$$), and have ajustablility (sp)
Oh and GET A GOOD FUEL SYSTEM AND GAUGE don't care if its a holly blue pusher FASS or air dog, fuel volume is the life of those pumps, the electronics can still fail due to the aluminum housing and heat cycles being so close to the block but they are much better than they used to be about that.

Listen to this man. Quirks of the HRVP are very annoying. Get a SO pump and a set of 80hp sticks and you will be money ahead. And its still all at the tip of your toes.

Maybe not the best way for max hp but for the average guy who just adds a box to his truck the HRVP is great and if you do add a box it will still add more hp than a SO pump with a box!
My truck dynoed 151 hp stock, 288 with the Edge Comp, and 354 with the Comp and HRVP, and 229 with Comp off.
