Talking HR VP 44 installed

Just finished installing the HR VP44. Took about 4 hrs. Followed link instructions on site, All worked just fine. The truck seems to lope or miss with the new pump, I assume its just the fact its putting out more fuel. My EZ Comp works better on 3x5 than 5x5. When the turbo spools up the tires will just break free when the auto shifts into second (the back end wants to pass up the front). I have to install my vulcan LP and lines now because the new VP pulls the pressure down to five at WOT where as with the old VP I never saw it go below 8-9. The truck also surges more between 45-50mph than it did with the old vp44. Well I really need to put the truck on a dyno. Never have to this point so I don't know what my numbers would be. After I get a set of strip/street radials it will be back to the track to see if I can better my ET's. I'll post those numbers. Thanks to all for info and instructions on intallation.

Regards,
Gene

You wouldn't be referring to our buddy Jetpilot would you Don? He recommended the same mods for me to reach 600hp. I think he has one of your cams inside his ride as well. My mod plans have been put on hold with the advent of trying to buy a house. If it doesn't work out Doug and I will be talking in the Spring!!!

On mine I noticed that idle was up to 900 and when engaing 1st or 2nd sometimes I hear the lope when rpms drop below this. I spoke with Shane @ II and he says this is normal and it won't hurt the pump- even said I could try lowering the idle to make it lope more.

And yes Doug is a great guy to work with. Enjoy.

Surging at 45-50? Is that a shift point?

Mark, I got it from Doug at Performance Diesel Warehouse. http://www.pdwpower.com/ Drivability is good, I am getting to the edge though. It seems to lope a little more with the HRVP. No stalling or problems of such. A little more smoke, but with the Mach 4's there has not been a problem with too much smoke. They are really clean burning injecters. As I had stated in an earlier post, I can pull my LP pressure a lot further down at WOT than with the Stock VP. The LP will be changed in the next day or so.

Regards,
Gene

From what I understand II won't cover electrical problems if the wire is peirced. Blue chip does cover these failures, but you'd have to put up more money up front their 1400 core charge plus you have to buy their pump cover The II HRVP's are selling quick these days.

Mark, The prices are the same ($1600). The difference is core charge. Blue chip is $1400. Performance Diesel Warehouse is $400 (Industrial injections - same). No warranty after punching the wire with PDW-II UNITS.

Phatboy, The surging between 45-50 mph is in OD and just holding speed, not while your accelerating. I need to check all my ground connections. I understand this could be effecting the TC. It is a little worst with the HRVP.
