Hp and Torque Question

I am in the market for a replacement clutch before anyone gets started with brand wars I am supposedly replaceing a sb con o (had a *********** mechanic moonlighting supply and install think he screwed me), another diesel "junkie" told me I had too much power for an "o" , my sig might not show still so real quick I have an 02 2500 nv4500, edge ez, factory eth injection pump, 4" mbrp, BHAF, boost elbow. I am just really curious about ball park estimations.

I do tow bobcats and occasional boomlifts

Sounds like folks are blowing smoke........................

I have an SB clutch and tow 14k with it. My entry to the street is a sharp left uphill......steep uphill. The clutch is flawless. Unless you're planning on boosted 3rd gear launches or some other such shenanigans, a Con O or OFE will be more than adequate. It will also give you some room to grow, should you care to.

My problem is the sb con o I have is that I am to the point of needing to be replaced and I not wanting to go too small if that is the case, is an "o" sufficient or should I get the ofe I am not adding anymore goodies to the truck, the little wife says NO

From what I've researched, the OFE will give the same street manners as an O, with more capacity. Beyond that you trade street manners for capacity.

I like my kevlar clutch, but it was like black ops when asking for specs.

IMO just call peter at southbend. tell him how you drive and what you do. and whats on it. I think due to price go with the OFE. I have used stock to OFE to FE and now a DD3600 outgrowing it and towing. so. if I was to do it over again I would have went to what I have now. the FE was to jerky and hard to back up. the OFE did not hold the power I added. (my fault) so wasted money. FE held but I can say my DD with what I have is great peddle pressure is like stock. call peter he will not do you wrong.

I was running more power than you, with the stock 6 speed (13") clutch. Normal load is 13K, dragging the boat puts me up to 23K. I never had the stock clutch slip, I didn't try to abuse it though.

I blew up my trans (long story) so had the clutch upgraded at the same time. I spec'd the OFE as it gave more capacity without losing street manners. The trans shop talked me into some custom kevlar clutch made locally for about the same $'s. They'd warranty P&L and assured me it would hold the power while be able to slip 1" at a time. It does all this, but I have zero info on specs. I still think the OFE would be an excellent choice off-the-shelf.

Of course, talking to SB might help put you at ease with your choice.
