just a little update for those interested lol. so with the truck in my sig i ran against my bros stock 06 dmax and had no problem pulling away from him, especially at higher speeds!! . i was pleasantly surprised and he had to admit he wasn't expecting that either, although he kept saying he'd beat if he was really trying.....lol. now he has a chip making 400rwhp so he will win but this is my thoughts and the train that follows it. hp is the calculated rate of work being done and tq is the actual measure of the amount of work being done. so if we run equal tq, arbitrarily say 1000tq, he'd be around 500hp and me only at 350 roughly. so that would make me slower cause he does the same amount of work at a faster rate, fair enough? but comparisons are 99% of the time hp, or the rate at which a motor gets the work done, so if im now up to 500hp ill b around 1200tq ish. meaning id b getting way more work but doing it at the same rate as him, making me faster. i understand there are many more variables as already someone listed, but im keeping my fingers crossed. i think we'll b really close as my greased lightning shifts are getting better with each day lol

and if that dn work then 650hp will teach him

So if somebody else dynoed that...that means you have it too?

I was correcting you, subtly.

Hop on a dyno.

well i wasnt saying i had that, just that its quite possible. i was referring to common figure in general and nothing specific about my truck. i wanna dyno soon, but a clutch and some more mods are in order as a dyno is $300 + up here

nothing wrong with 350/1000, in fact its perfect lol yes those stupid slipping clutches so im still confidant at 500/1500 he'll get a good idea of what mine taillights look like. he's already running hot with 400hp, whereas i still got lotsa room to play.

350/1000 is a pretty poorly setup 12v. One that fuels really hard in the low rpms, and then is barely making any power up top. You should be close to 500 HP @ 1000 ft lbs.

If you are happy leaving power on the table, then yes, 350/1000 is awesome.

so how does one broaden a powerband then? i always thought the power curves when determined my engineered motor characteristics. obviously doing the same amount of work faster is better but how does one go about doing that?

Rpms, ability to fuel at those rpms, air available to burn that fuel at those rpms.....then come cams and other airflow improvements, in the case of p pump trucks, timing and proper afc tuning can't be overlooked, ........ stuff that gets outside of the realm of slid plates and silencer ring deletes.
