How would you build a high 12sec truck that still tows
I am wondering how you would go about building a high 12sec low 13sec daily driver truck that will still tow almost anything without really high EGT’s and still have fun at the sled pulls. Pretty much I am wondering what combo would give me the best of everything…lol. All I know is my next truck will be a stick, but other than that I am not sure about too much. I would also like to stay with a single turbo if I can, and I really don't want to pull the head(if I can avoid it). As for a budget, I am not rich so try to be semi cost efficient.
I am not even sure if I am going 24valve or 12valve yet.
Thanks,
Paul

Though I'm sure its been done...
If you wanna go fast, a built automatic is the way to go.

I still tow but I have to keep my rpms up to control EGTs and I shut the TST off while towing as well. My combo would be perfect with a set of S400/S300 twins for air. And would probably run a little quicker as well.

This should ruffle some feathers but don't try it with a 12v, because running a medium-large sized single that will be needed is not friendly on 12v's most of the time and it will surge, also, 12v's dont have just a box or chip to adjust to set your power level, timing needs, boost fooling. Sure you can do a valet switch, but still thats just a single setting that drops the power down.
You also won't do it with a manual...its going to take 600+hp to run a high 12 in a manual, and its only gonna happen if you shift it perfect everytime. My combo makes 571hp and I ran 14.2@100mph with it one time, the rest of the runs were in the 15's. A 550hp auto truck will go 12.5-13.0 depending on the weight of the truck.
That being said here is how I would do it.
24v auto truck
built auto (HTS, ATS, DTT, Goerands, Suncaost whatever)
62/12 turbo of some sort
Edge Drag comp
150-200hp injector
intake, exhaust, fuel pump, and gauges are a must as well
you can find a 98-00 24v auto for as cheap as $10k with not too many miles in good shape, and the stuff listed above will cost about $10k if you shop smart. The auto tranny takes more than half of that money.

Plus a DD clutch that will hold up to pulling will be not fast to shift on the strip.
Yes, a stick will loose boost on the shifts.

I have a 01 with a edge juice w/ attitude, 4in exhaust a built auto trans, k&n intake, welded waste gate my truck makes 35+ psi of boost I am concerned about the turbo! and need to be able to tow with out issues but would like the truck to run in the 12's in the 1/4 at sea level any advise would be great.
What turbo(s) and what injectors?
I have heard that a 64 turbo is the best of both worlds.
