How To Update A Smarty

After some minutes you should see something like this:
And your smarty should show "Smarty updated Press any key" on it's display.
Now click OK, close the smarty USB program, press any key on the smarty and unplug it from your computer.
Go to your truck and update the software as per instructions on the smarty.
I hope that this helps some of you in updating your smarty, and would like to apologize for me leaving you hanging on the edge of the seat for a night- I think that this should cover all steps for upgrading your smarty.

Way to go Marcus!
You left me hanging there, but I finished it up this AM. Now I know German! lol
I did have to go though the process of changing drivers through the device manager because I let Windows install the wrong driver.
This may be a good thing to post on your web site to show more clearly how to complete a down load for dummies.
I LOVE THE NEW UPGRADE!
Less smoke, more RPM'S, smoother power curve.

Thank you for the kind words, I hope that I'll get to making a website.
If possible I'd like to split it up into some parts, one for the first time with a smarty on this computer, then a part for downloading and installing a file into the smarty and maybe a 3rd part for troubleshooting.
Bob, I am pondering packing all the stuff needed into an installer for the first time users. (It should contain 7-zip, the drivers and the USB tool- maybe including a link to the downloads page but this would need to be in cooperation with Marco or his webmaster so that the position of the files remains the same and some other tidbits)

I did everything right with the except of the 7ZIP program so your instructions were AWESOME! I kept trying winzip renaming the file until I ran across your post.

I tried it and there was no problem. I think that the Smarty is just reading the VIN and doesn't forget the VIN during an update. The only reason I see to set it back to stock before an update is for the warranty reasons if anything goes awfully awry during the update and you have to send the smarty to the supplier for repair it says they won't touch a VIN-locked smarty.

Thanks to alpineram i finally got my smarty updated! thanks!!
However, i wasnt really impressed. Compared to dad's stocker, yea it will get up to 3k a lot faster, and maybe i could have used this software back when i had mine all hopped up. But for the way i have it set up now i couldnt really even tell a difference...

I'm sure Bob/Marco would bend the rules for a few of us.
