This is how the truck should steer

I just installed the lukes link on my truck and took it for a drive. This thing handles like the corvette. The steering is nice and tight and the truck doesn't wander. When I pulled the track bar off, the stud was just flopping around and wouldn't stand up straight. After the lukes link, it stands at attention like a well trained soilder. For $72, I recommened this to everyone. It's really easy to install and it really does work.

Glad things worked out....but if you go drive a Vette....I think you'll notice the Vette is a tad better in the handling dept....LOL

Big Blue,

Did you have any rattling before you took off the track bar? I've got a rattle up there that I just can't pin down.

Rattletrap1, yes, the Vette handles better, but the steering is just as responsive now in my truck as it is in the Vette. And for the record, my truck can handle like an SOB.

Wetspirit, I never had a rattle up front but I did have an occasional pop when I would turn and hit a bump. After the luke's link, no more pop, yet.

willysrule, www.lukeslink.com . The guy who runs it is a great guy. I left a message with him sunday morning and he called me back at 9 am monday morning. I got the part 3 days later.

You can also get the bushing for the other end from rockauto.com. It's around ten bucks.

Yeah. I'm thinking about replacing most of my front end bushings, if not all, with polyurethane in hopes that it'll help the handling. I throw my truck around the curves like a vette and I need all the help I can get.

Big Blue,
Question. I saw your other post with the condition of the ball joint on your track bar. I am wondering if the joint got to the point where it was that bad with a torn boot and all, shouldn't the bar be replaced? Are Lukes Links intended to "repair" a broken joint or simply support a worn one? I say broken because if there is enough wear in yours to the point where it won't even stand up, it my be bordering on unsafe?

Curious.

xp1803, I tore the boot on it when I was taking it apart. The instructions that came with the link said that it would help pull the track bar from the frame and it did. Doing that along with a little grinding on the puller itself to make it wide enough popped the bar right out. As loose as it was, I was thinking that I was gonna have to replace it also but after I installed the luke's link, the stud stood up perfectly straight and I couldn't move it at all by hand.

Here's something I've been pondering for a while. Why hasn't somebody welded the stud inside the track bar, bolted it to the frame, and then welded the track bar to the frame? Seems to me that that would solve any and all movement problems. Or is the track bar supposed to allow some movement?

With one end attached to the frame, and one end to the axle, it seems like it should allow some movement to account for the suspension doing its job. Seems like mostly it should allow up and down movement, though, and not much lateral or fore and aft.

Dual Stabilizers

Anyone runnin dual stabilizers to help too? I just replaced the entire track bar, and it's still pretty sloppy. Know of anywhere to get a good deal on them or if I should bother?

Many people reported that replacing their stabilizer and or runnin dual stabilizers made a bigger improvement on their handling/death wobble issues than replacing the track bar.

However, if your T bar is shot obviously it needs replaced anyway.

Try tightening your steering box. That helped a lot on mine even before the luke's link.
